Excellent cuisine in the Netherlands? It exists! The Wink offers their own creative cuisine, melting different influences (French? Italian? Spanish?) with great knowledge of local raw foods and herbes. The menu changes periodically but you'll always find meat/fish and vegetarian dishes available. Apparently informal, but in reality totally focused on your dinner enjoyment. No background noise. No paper napkins. No... More

There is no extensive menu, just meat or fish or veg for starters and the same for mains. I had 4 courses, which were all great, and a wine pairing which I enjoyed a lot. Add to this a friendly, lively atmosphere and you have an idea of the place. It's definitely worth a visit.

This place came recommended by a food critic friend and its well worth a visit. Perfectly cooked food, well calibrated service and the owner really knows his wines down to the knd of hillsides the grapes are grown on. His wife is the chef and comes up with beautifully served and imaginative dishes - 1 meat 1 fish and 1... More

A small restaurant with fresh, farm-to-table (produce and meats alike) menu that changes regularly. Husband and wife run, she cooks, he’s front of house. She is very talented and turns some pretty amazing out of a very small kitchen. He is very enthusiastic and welcoming, and as with all Dutch, speaks perfect English. He know his food and wine and... Cozy restaurant with a great and sufficiently varified chart. The owner and his wife are great hosts and seem to know most of their guests (our treat them as if they do). Vegatarions can get their fill as well.. I chose meat and enjoyed it. The (French) red wine was fitting and very nice. I recommend the restaurant if you... More

You wont propably notice The Wink when passing by, but you really should. This cosy and small restaurant serves really good fine-dining. Don't let the modest interior fool you, because this place is all about food and not so much the latest decorations. And that's exactly how it should be! Jan Paul is a great host. You will certainly feel... More

It's the third time for me at Wink, and Jan Paul and his (soon to be) wife Natascha did it again. We had a dining experience that was divine, all the way from the welcoming, the starters (antipasto, white asparagus) through main course of haddock and delicious desserts. The menu is limited to 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts... More

We have eaten out in Amsterdam many times and been disappointed--not this time. The service was absolutely impeccable, the food original and amazing, and the wine pairings delightful. Somehow they manage to combine high end dining with a no-fuss yet attentive approach, so that you really feel like you are having an intimate evening with your dining partner and sharing... More

I must say I really enjoyed Wink. The staff are lovely, from the welcome to the chef coming out to say hello. The small number of options for dinner ensured everything was just so. A local restaurant for locals, with no non-locals when I was there on a Tuesday. I would go again. very good indeed. Close to the DNB... More

Unpretentious interior meets high class food. Very welcoming owner, who took the time to chat with us. Food was fantastic, too - a wonderful evening.

Staying in De Pijp

Neighborhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
