We were seven for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We all had warm tartine (open face sandwich) everything tasted delicious. The meal was so good we bought the recipe book (available in Dutch and english.)

Friendly staff, great menu and lovely location. Very Zen breakfast. Service is slow but not a problem. We have had breakfast here every morning of our stay rather than using the hotel buffet.

We had breakfast here twice in a 5-day stay at a nearby hotel. Excellent choices on the menu, although I opted for the scrambled eggs with avocado and salad each time. Nice place for families and groups, but the stairs to the dining area upstairs are a little steep. The service is very good, with friendly wait staff who know... More

We ran across this cute place on a walk and stopped in for a tea and brioche. The pastries were fantastic and the service very good. The menu for full meals looked very good and seemed to emphasize healthy choices.

I absolutely love this cafe! I seek them out in most cities across the world. Their menu is fantastic. The food is always fresh and amazing and service is great. It's especially good for people with food allergies/intolerance - they have some great dishes that are vegan, gluten free.

Lunch was delicious with great choices and friendly staff. House wine is excellent and prices good. Coffee and tea served in bowls which is a lovely touch. The bread served is outstanding. Presentation is spot on. There is a lovely children's menu and the food is organic.

The cafe was cozy like all le Pain. The food is as expected but the coffee was great! It is nice to snack and have a good coffee.

We have been here three days in a row because it's so close to our host's house, has the perfect selection of pastries, egg dishes, excellent Peruvian coffee/espresso and charming wait staff.

This worldwide chain is not too fancy and not too casual. This is a good place to go for coffee and pastry and a sandwich. I also like the take away sandwiches They do close at 6PM most days but are at least open on Sunday. You can buy fresh bread which is nice. I like their rye multigrain but... More

Our bread is made today exactly as it was in the beginning: with only organic stone-ground flour, salt, and water, kneaded and shaped by hand and baked in a hearth under the watchful eye of artisan bakers. We insist on the freshest and finest ingredients. If we can't find them, we make them ourselves. Our shelves are lined with the products we've created: the jams and chocolate spreads on the communal table, the granola in your parfait, the coffee that fills your bowl.

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
