We have been there twice and the owner even recognized us after 2 years. We have tried many other restaurants during other trips to Amsterdam, but this one remains our favorite. The owner is really nice, always has a smile on his face and makes sure that you don't miss anything. The food is really delicious, the atmosphere is really pleasantly quiet and it is not too crowded. At the end there was a limoncello on the house!
We will definitely come back on our next trip 😊

Someone in my team would be a good idea to have dinner smack bang in the middle of Amsterdam, so off we went.
Selection of menu items were food, and so was my steak. It wasn’t that busy and at some point I noticed that staff was standing in the front of the restaurant talking to passers by and trying to get them to eat in. For me, that’s an absolute turn off as I refuse the eat at restaurants where staff are standing outside with waving menu cards to lure people in.
All in all it was a good experience, but the ‘luring people in thing’ was a great annoyance as I don’t think to eat in restaurants that does this practice.

We visited this lovely steakhouse for my 60th birthday while visiting Amsterdam. The 400g Fillet steak was cooked (medium) to perfection and came with Chips and a side salad and I ordered pepper sauce. My wife had a 400g Sirloin was cooked very nicely (medium-well) just as she likes it. We booked quite early in the evening (19:30pm) so were the only people in the place but were looked after very well by the waitress and the owner.

Very nice waiter but scammed properly with his kindness. We order two zero cocas (6€ each for a coca served by the glass and almost flat), acid guacamole (we made the remark but on the note, no gesture) , we each take a rib eye and there the magic happens... you take salad, fries? Bam, small tasteless salad at €7.50 and 10 fries at €9! the meat was good but not exceptional either. In short, I would have preferred it to increase the price of meat that we charge for fries and salad in addition. Disgusted to get ripped off in style.

Friendly welcome, average quality and especially pay attention to the price, the bread and sauces kindly offered are surprisingly payable when paying. The price is more expensive than the price indicated at the time of the bill (soda). Not very commercial!!!! There are much better things in Amsterdam.

We were lucky to be accepted as they have all the tables reserved.
We had to wait for too long. The waitress was nice. She gave us the menu, after 10 minutes she came and ask us what we wanted to drink, she left, she came back 10 minutes later with our drinks and left, then she came back again and take our order. She also asks us if we wanted some bread for the wait, as my partner is French and we live in France, obviously we said yes but then when the time to pay arrived, we realised we were also paying for the bread, the extra side dishes (chips, rice), the water and all this for the really long wait. We went out of the restaurant 2 hours later.
The meat's cooking process and the meat itself was delicious but it was not worth nor my time nor the price.

Small and cozy restaurant. The place was quite packed and still there was only one waiter. He managed somehow without having us waiting for too long.
We ordered the guacamole with nachos as starter and got one small plate with 10-15 nachos and one small bowl of not-home made guacamole. We also ordered garlic king prawns, which meant king prawns with alioli on a side. In addition they served us three king prawns for a party of four! How greedy is that?
The portion of French fries as side dish for the meat were big enough, but the vegetables and mushrooms were ridiculously small.
The dessert were ok sized but nothing exceptional.
All in all, the meat was the only good thing on the menu

We visited as drop in customers. Two friends. Have been there a couple of times before, and have had good experience.
This time a gentlemen was there all by himself, working the tables, cooking and serving.
We could see him working in the kitchen, running back and forth to get things done as quick as he could.
But not once did he wash his hands between handling raw meat, picking ice cubes by hand and dropping them into the glasses, or handing out Menüs, and touching everything you can imagine you have to doing all this tasks.
Upon serving our meat, timely delayed after the sides had been served, he actually dropped one of the meat servings on to the floor, picked it up and served it anyway …
The meat was not prepared to ordered spec, and all in all we ended up eating about 1/2, but confronted the gentleman upon leaving, we didn’t have to pay.
A nice gesture! But we both regret we ate anything at all as we both stayed in the hotel room the next 13 hours with a bad stomach !

Good place but....
We booked for 4 people. Plenty of space inside and outside.
Nice looking restaurant. Very friendly service.
Would have given 4 star, but only 3 because of two bad things.
1) the plate with nachos was very small. It would next to nothing to serve a reasonable descent plate - especially for the high price of close to eur 7.
2) the sauce was literally like 2 cl, we had to pay full price eur 2,5 for per one more sauce. Again the price for serving a descent amount would be next to nothing.

We had a fantastic meal at la luna. The steak was fabulous along with the sides we chose. Of particular note was the bread with herb butter, never had anything like it before absolutely light as air and amazing. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and provided good service. Would definately return.

Please avoid, sub standard meat (couldn’t bring myself to call if beef) was tough and grisly, chips are oven chips and best part of the meal was the toothpick to get meat out, wine was lovely but I’d expect that at £25 a bottle for the house red. If you want to waste £50 pp then be my guest, but I would highly recommend you don’t. How this made the top 15 I will know.

Excellent food and service. Even though we were sceptic since we were the only customers, we have absolutely no complaints. The steaks were cooked to our desire and our server was professional and attentive. A good restaurant that definitely deserves more foot traffic than we perceived they received.

This was a fantastic evening. Wednesday night, may 11th, 2022. We made reservations online for 730 and arrived just after 7 o’clock (finding through TA). The outside seating as well as inside were empty. As we read through the menu outside, trying to discern whether we could enjoy a cocktail ahead of dinner, Mario came outside, greeted us and surmised we were his 7:30. He was warm and welcoming and even though no full bar, we decided to make our evening here. Glad we did. Full family affair. Mario‘s wife owns it and is the manager. Mario is chef, maître d’, and waiter. And their daughter, Meredith, is the waitress. Bottle of Prosecco served for our cocktails. Bottle of wine with dinner. A true Argentinian extravaganza and an absolutely wonderful evening! And the music, curated by Mario’s wife, on an MP3, was spectacular.

Do not be fooled by the exterior, this is the best steak I’ve ever had. Every restaurant on the street was busy except for this one and I can’t find a reason as to why, it was amazing. The gentleman who runs the place is an absolute legend and a genius with a grill, be sure to try the homemade chimichurri sauce as it is divine. Go here, it is the best.

Mario is the host of the century. Instantly he made us feel as if we were the only people in the restaurant... ok, we were the only people in the restaurant.
The food was delicious, steak was delicious and cooked to perfection. Both medium and medium rare. All sides were delicious and well prepared as well.
We are a couple and ordered two 300g steaks, one ribeye and one sirloin. We also ordered 4 sides, corn, tomatoes, potatoes and onion rings. I ended up eating some of my gfs steak, which meant we ordered the perfect amount for us. We also ordered a bottle of wine (Malbec - restaurant prices for sure) which brought our total to €96.00.
Make sure you ask for the Chimichurri sauce. Mario offered us a sample and is was amazing!
Dinner was pleasant and so well hosted by Mario, I would totally recommend enjoying a night at La Luna Steakhouse!
