We happened to find this place while strolling along the canals and keeping our eye open for a cute spot to eat. We loved the funky atmosphere and were really impressed with the menu. I had the salmon salad and hubby had the spicy peanut soup and little spicy 'meat parcels' - all excellent and very generous portion sizes. We... More

We'd had a drink outside the bar next door the day before and the food coming out of Gespot looked great so we went there the next night for a meal. We ordered some appetizers, a couple of the specials and they were quite helpful in offering a non menu item of a chicken dish four son which wasn't on... More

The drinks in Gespot are among the most expensive in Amsterdam. 5 euros for their cheapest pint, and similar for house wine. Most people in Amsterdam are packpackers on a budget, and this is not the place I would suggest to have a good night out.

The service was terrible, the tuna was like catfood. We told them twice but they didn`t listen. It took an argument before they showed it in the kitchen.

As the location is wonderful, we decided to have a quick lunch there. We ordered two paninis as well as a a piece of apple cake. The apple cake never actually arrived at all, and the paninis were of the most basic sort, tasteless bread with mediocre mozzarella, tomato and no spices (and that €5,50!). The waitress did offer her... More

Visited this restaurant early on a Sunday evening. Location was nice by the canal, but we wanted to eat inside as all the canal-side tables were taken. We were told inside was closed so we ended up on a bench outside the restaurant door. Service was slow but staff were pleasant. My daughter had pasta which she said was just... More

We ended up eating here after an exhausting day of sightseeing. We both had pizzas which were very tasty and not bad value for money. The place was cosy with a few larger tables full of people and the staff were very friendly and service was good. Overall it was what we wanted - some food and a few drinks... More

Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. Burger was good, bit dry though, panini with prosciutto was warm, which as not a very good combination. Service and price was ok.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
