Visited Tales & Spirits in December 2019. Although you can’t book, we managed to get one of the last tables and had the best evening ever. The tapas bar food was delicious, especially the chicken, katsu prawns & the steamed buns. The cocktails are incredible - all based on a story and look as good as they taste. Our waiters were so friendly and even told us what cocktails we would and wouldn’t like based on our first order. One of them also sent us a whole list of tourist spots to visit during our time in Amsterdam. Overall, amazing bar & will definitely return when we are next back in Amsterdam!

Positively surprised at any point.
This place is great ! Looking good, cosy and chill with a old whiskey bar vibe.
All the staff is warmly welcoming you, always ready to discuss and feed you with all the positivity you need.
The cocktails are great and thanks to the attention to details that the staff is having, they are making them evolve to reach your taste during the time you are here (of course you need to take more than one, but it's totally worth it !).
Clearly a place i will now visit everytime im coming around !

This little gem of a place is a beautiful and totally decadent cocktail bar. From the well dressed bar tenders, oversize chandeliers, dark wood cabinets and bar to the hand painted walls-- this bar drips charm. However, it was not prentious or fussy, the staff and regulars are so welcoming and friendly and this, against a backdrop of fantastic music just made my first day in Amsterdam. It's not far from the tourist attractions and prices range from €11 for a house cocktail up to €17 for something a little more special. It sells properly made cocktails, which each come with a small bottle of water. The fallen lady, which is one of 3 house cocktails was rich and decadent, which later develops into a fruity aftertaste. The menu itself is charming and quirky, thoughtfully designed to be in keeping with the bar itself. Read the poem on the back.

We were a group of folks in our 50s/60s who waited from 5:15pm outside this lounge for their 5:30 opening time. The staff guy let us into the EMPTY lounge at 5:30 then told us that we couldn’t sit together because it wasn’t their “concept”. WTF? This idiot obviously must not be the business owner. He wouldn’t even let us sit in the same area of the lounge. We turned around and left. Lots of nice bars in Amsterdam- no need for this one.

This place is all hype and no substance. The cocktails are OK - but outrageously priced. I paid €30 for the Bathtub Barbie doll cocktail (not on the menu). They bill it as a 'sharing cocktail', but it's still on the small & pricey side compared to other cocktail bars who give sharing cocktails in large jugs and bowls for a fraction of the price - ergo, very pretentious. I found the staff quite brusque & churlish. The ridiculous set of rules on the front of the menu are beyond laughable. A sure fire way to send potential customers running for the hills. They are also very awkward about the seating - they made us share a table with two loud, brash American girls despite other tables being free (which is fine if you want to socialise, but not if you're a couple who require privacy). To summarise, I'd maybe go here with low expectations for one drink.

Visited on 8th February of which was very surprised to be asked to wait outside until table became available. Luckily it was dry so we waited.
The bar had a good atmosphere with classy feel to it.
Once seated the bar man was very friendly and accommodating. We were asked what type of cocktail we wanted and it was made to order. We both went with a Gin based option and tasted lovely. Complimentary bottle of water was a nice touch.
Would recommend booking in advance. Around 1hr is probably about right in terms of time allotted for the bar due to drinks being on the expensive side.

Such creative cocktails and snacks! I recommend arriving when they open at 5:30 otherwise there's no room to sit! We loved the pork buns and the traditional "bitten ballen," which I think was fried chicken balls? My "Little Miss Troubles" drink was delicious, and my husband enjoyed the "A New Hope." Wish we'd gone more when we were in Amsterdam.

My favourite bar in Amsterdam!
I have been here twice now and both times have had an amazing experience. The service is impeccable, you can see the staff love their job, the cocktails are amazing and very fairly priced!
Make sure you make a reservation though!
I booked this for my boyfriends birthday, we had Jan (sorry if i misspelt your name!) who served our drinks, he was honestly amazing, so friendly and with a great humour. Make sure you try the Zombie!

Jon and the team are absolutely incredible. The cocktails are top notch. If you can’t decide from the large menu they will ask you a few questions and mix you a custom cocktail. The General Lee was fantastic.
Believe it or not the best part of T&S is not the cocktails. Instead, it’s the incredible atmosphere and the BEST service and conversation with the staff you could ask for.
This was my first time in Amsterdam and I will be visiting T&S as my first stop next time I am here. I am on my way to visit for the 3rd day in a row. T&S has been the highlight of my time thus far and it will be hard to top it.
If you are looking for an 11/10 cocktail and want to enjoy some incredible company, sit at the bar and let Jon take care of you.

We went to this bar on the back of a recommendation.
It lived up to our expectations and more. We were served by a lovely gentleman who went out of his way to tailor cocktails to what flavours we enjoyed. This bar is unique and the flavours they put together make a fantastic experience.
We highly recommend to anyone whilst visiting Amsterdam.

The best cocktails in town. Great staff, food is good and clientele is polite and friendly.
John, the bartender, listens carefully to your requests and serves you like a champion.
Alessandro, the waiter, loves to mele sure you’re comfortable and happy.

If you love cocktails you have to try this place. I asked for a recommendation from our hotel staff for the best cocktail place in town and was told to go here. I’m glad we did, it’s a very unique experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. They’re very knowledgeable about drinks and are very happy to make recommendations to suit your tastes. Don’t be scared to ask for help with the menu, it’s meant to be a bit of a different experience to a normal bar and it’s well worth a visit! The free water and snacks were a lovely little touch.

I totally wish I was able to stop by here more than once! First of all, the service was absolutely phenomenal. Everyone that worked there was incredibly friendly and extremely attentive to their patrons. None of it felt forced, which I truly appreciated. They had a good variety of cocktails to fit anyone’s needs and they made sure that if you did not enjoy your cocktail, they would make you something else. I absolutely loved this place and would come back!

My girlfriend and I really like the vibe of this place and the cocktails are by far one of the best in Amsterdam. It is truly a shame that on our last visit we waited outside for a while and then were led to the bar to have a drink until a free spot became available. Although sipping at cocktails while standing by the bar and taking in the bustling atmosphere has its charm, this was no short wait.. Much to our surprise, we then realised that the person who had been waiting behind us in the line (and was clearly on friendly terms with all the staff members) had been given the only free table. So disappointing to see that! It ruined our experience so we headed for the exit doors after a round. We will come back as the place is great and these unprofessional blips will not discourage us:)
