I got the feeling we arrived a bit too early (mid afternoon), as there were only a few other people in there and we felt a bit like we were bothering the staff by ordering. Luckily for me the beer was great, and I love the venue, such a great space, will definitely be returning when it's a bit busier.... More

We went there with some friends for beers, the place was packed and it was difficult to find a free table. When we finally got one we ordered burguers and one rib eye, the food was good nothing to say about that but it took one hour to prepare. I had to remind the waiter twice about our food. Apart... Some excellent craft beers locally brewed in house for a very decent price! Lots of tourists mingled in some locals to create a great vibe

This place was hopping on a Saturday night, it was easy to get beer and they have a nice selection, I tried three different ones and they were all good. Getting a table for dinner on the other hand... not so simple. And once we were seated it took a while to order and we were bordering on Hulk level... More

De Prael brews a delicious catalog of beers and is large enough to find a seat even at busy hours. I've been here around 20 times so far, and the biggest downside is the service. It's bad beyond your wildest imagination. They are just unaware of their clients and grumpy most of the times. If you come here, be ready... More

Great beer, good cheeseboard. Nice quiet location even in the busiest of weekends. Weiss beer is gorgeous. A fair few brewery places in Amsterdam and this is a good one. Cash only.

Ambiance is very good. You may have a sit with your friends and choose a beer from their menu. Value for the price.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
