Some excellent craft beers locally brewed in house for a very decent price! Lots of tourists mingled in some locals to create a great vibe

This place was hopping on a Saturday night, it was easy to get beer and they have a nice selection, I tried three different ones and they were all good. Getting a table for dinner on the other hand... not so simple. And once we were seated it took a while to order and we were bordering on Hulk level... More

De Prael brews a delicious catalog of beers and is large enough to find a seat even at busy hours. I've been here around 20 times so far, and the biggest downside is the service. It's bad beyond your wildest imagination. They are just unaware of their clients and grumpy most of the times. If you come here, be ready... More

Great beer, good cheeseboard. Nice quiet location even in the busiest of weekends. Weiss beer is gorgeous. A fair few brewery places in Amsterdam and this is a good one. Cash only.

Great craft beers and good food in the Red Light District. It's a great place for meeting your friends for a beer and some snacks.

Ambiance is very good. You may have a sit with your friends and choose a beer from their menu. Value for the price.

Great eclectic furniture mix is the first thing you notice. Service can be patchy and we always go to the bar to get drinks as its quicker and you can taste the beers before buying. Can get very busy at times especially when groups pop in (and the Dutch do like to go about in groups). They have their own... More

It's great home brew beer for starters. There's plenty of affordable pub food. The setting is perfect as is the location. And this is one of the best social working projects in Amsterdam. So do enjoy and don't forget to tip!

De Prael Proeflokaal is a really cool place for a beer and a snack (you can eat here as well, but we did not try that). We tried some of the beers on a busy Saturday afternoon and were very quickly served. The beers were tasty as well, nothing too special, though the selection is very select. You can choose... More

Were looking for brew pubs in Amsterdam and came across this one--it has a retail store on the main street, but around the corner in the alley is the pub itself. Just had a few of their local offerings and a side of fries--but worth the stop on this side of town.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
