My girlfriend and I visited De Laatste Kruimel a couple times we we travelled to Amsterdam. The food was great and fresh, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was really cosy and pleasant (although very busy inside, it didn't bother us at all). The quiche was delicious, sandwiches very good, and the desserts fantastic. I would definitely recommend going... More

This is my second visit to Amsterdam in 2015 and was on the top of my list. Best cakes and quiches. Friendly and busy atmosphere. World class!

The kishes and the salads are amazing. The cakes I ate were a bit disapionted but for that perfect tomato and artichoke kish and mashroom kish I have to give 5 stars. The bulgur salad was also interesting and very good. The place is very pleasent and authentic, the kitchen is in just in front of you. Ah... and the... More

I ate more than a quarter of my meals here while in Amsterdam. The quality for the price is great - especially for their sandwiches. The selection is huge. It's a really popular spot so it's easier to grab something to go. The aesthetic is great.

My friends and I stumbled upon this place and immediately fell in love (I was feeling heartbroken when I almost couldn't find it again an hour before my train back to the airport.). I had the rhubarb strawberry crumble, which was heaven!! My friends tried the cheesecake and apple pie and loved them both as well. And not only is... More

Dropped by for a quick dessert on my way back to my apartment. I was torn between the apple pie or the rhubarb strawberry crumble and she suggested the latter. It was delicious, better than I expected. Paired it with a latte and it was a perfect way to end a long day.

Although built as a quick takeaway place next to the university, it offers very good food at amazing value, and very friendly staff!

In the heart of the city this small place is one you can't miss while being in Amsterdam! Once you see all the great food behind the windows, you just want to go inside. The customers are a mix of local people and tourists. Some go for take away, others try to find a place to sit. We had a... More

Saw the reviews on here, and popped in. Had a coffee and almond topped delicacy, very tasty. Only issue was the size of the place, very crowded and hard to find a place to sit.

A small little bakery / cafe with great food and great value for money. we tried a couple of sandwiches and they were superb, very very delicious and not that expensive at all. Staff were friendly, even replacing my wife's coffee for free when I spilled it. If you are lucky you can even get a seat outside over the... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
