We happened upon this quirky, cosy, bustling little café when we were tired and hungry. What a lucky find. The window display looks so inviting, and the home-made quiches and cakes are out of this world. We visited twice in two days, but then felt it might be embarrassing to return for a third, even though we are yet to... More

Stellar cafe. Drool-worthy. Quiches, desserts, baked-good heaven. OH MY. It's a good thing I don't live in Amsterdam, because I'd be going here every day. My friend/host introduced me to this cafe before we went on a day trip outside Amsterdam, and we immensely enjoyed the quiches. Highly recommend the pumpkin, almond, and blue cheese quiche - but I'm sure... More

Stopped in here for some lunch, had a delete city's vegetarian sandwich, there was plenty of choice for veggies. We enjoyed a cake after lunch, fresh and delicious. Would definitely revisit next time in Amsterdam :-)

We had breakfast here almost every day during our stay in Amsterdam because the sandwiches were outstanding and seating is cozy, expecially if you can get a table outside above the canal. Bread Pudding was a great lunch, too.

Very quaint shop with good coffee, very friendly employees and delicious treats. Everything looked great, but went for the Strawberry-rhubarb crumble and it was perfect!

Amazing savory and sweet treats here. We just stumbled in on a cold rainy day and were so pleasantly surprised. We had sweet treats and strongly recommend the "French Toast," a smooshed croissant soaked in cream, fried in butter until crispy outside moist inside, and generously sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and sliced almonds. Good coffee with a limited selection of... More

We stumbled upon this little cosy bakery on our first morning in Amsterdam and went back twice more. The oven-baked sandwiches were delicious, as were the pastries.

Thank Holly-Jay D

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
