Came across this place couple of years ago. Very cozy (combined trendy / vintage). Chairs and tables are mainly boxes and cradles, not so comfortable to sit on, but quite cool. There is a small out door seating area facing the canal. Soup of the day is usually some vegetarian soup. I have never been disappointed. I also recommend the... More

Fantastic food & service, well worth the visit, can feel quite busy so can be tricky to bag a spot if looking for a place sit.

This place is a small but rather cosy cafe with amazing sandwiches and quiche. Its worth taking a quick break . The staff is friendly and efficient even tho i found the ordering process a bit messy, maybe because i don't speak dutch, it didnt help. I would definitely go there again.

I found this place on tripadvisor, and I have to admit that was a good choice.. It's a small place but very lovely. Most of the menu it's home made and we tried different type of cakes and croissant and believe me if I tell you that all was fantastic! If you are in Amsterdam don't miss a visit in... More

We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast in the cafe. We opted for savoury and our food was delicious. If we had time I would have visited again for some of the delicious cakes on display! A definite recommendation for some afternoon coffee and cake as well as breakfast and lunch.

Visiting this place everyday would be a key reason why I'd say it's the best in Amsterdam. They offer their 'cake of the day' and it never disappoints. The staff are mediocre, understandably for a small, packed bakery. We did not dine in, as there is limited seats, but tried a variety of cakes. Definitely worth a visit.

After several hours of walk - we were looking for a place to stop for an apple pie with coffee. We accidentally encounter this place. Both sweet and sour pies where awesome, atmosphere was great as well. Highly recommended!

Visited here twice on a trip to Amsterdam. First time I had what can only be described as a chocolate brownie meets a pavlova decorated with fruit, cream and little flowers plus a coffee. Second time I returned for a bacon, mushroom and sun dried tomato quiche type pie thing which was also divine, and a juice. It is packed... More

We walk pass and attracted by their window display of all homemade cakes and quiches selection with granny style decorated. We are lucky to be their last customers to dine in before closing. We drop in and order a heavenly rasberry cake , lemon pie and great tasty latte. They are all so hearty and delicious. 😍 End up, we... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
