Visited with colleagues this week. The menu is fantastic. Very interesting and varied. Bacon for dessert was intriguing. The quality of food perhaps doesn’t match the aspiration. The beef was outshone by the vegetables.

Amazing food accompanied with a beautiful set surrounding of artistic elegance. The staff is very friendly and tends to their every customers needs without coming across as too pushy. The courtyard is the best place to be at hot summer days.
This would not have been my first choice in Amsterdam(see other reviews) but i am very please we visited and would certainly return. The restaurant is on the first floor and its an unusual room (in a nice way ) with a very laid back...attitude .There is plenty of space which is a very nice feature. There is a small menu but what we had was very enjoyable with good service and a good selection of wines. This would probably be an establishment more enjoyed by well traveled europeans. My husband and I visited this restaurant last night for dinner. Beautiful setting, unfortunately service was probably the worst we've ever had. Upon being giving the menus for dinner it took them 25 minutes to come back to take our drinks order. We were then...mostly ignored having long gaps between courses, we had to pour our own wine. The food was amazing and that's why I've given 3 stars, but I wouldn't recommend or go back due to service. It was very strange, but the staff seemed to be aware of what they were doing by ignoring us. Not sure if this is some sort of game that the staff play. Shocking!!!More
Recommended by some local friends to try this restaurant and it was a fantastic choice. They were extremely busy over the New Years holidays and after trying for three days to book they finally had a opening on our 4th day in Amsterdam and they...did not disappoint. We ordered the 4 course tasting menu and everything was delicious. starters was ceviche, followed by sea bass and main of duck and to finish, dutch cake, macaron and ice-cream. Service was attentive and very friendly and would gladly go back to try more dishes. Restaurant has quirky and interesting wall art and lighting was suitable for romantic / special occasions.More
We spent 8 nights in Amsterdam visiting family. This restaurant was recommended by two sources. On Saturday night, November 30, 2019, we went with a party of five, including two local residents. We no sooner sat down when our waiter asked whether we were ready...to order. Since we had all just gathered for the first time that day with one member of our party, we had not even looked at the menu. When we went to order an appetizer for the table, the waiter said that one would not be enough, that we should order more appetizers. Since four of us had spent the day touring the food market in Amsterdam and the food market and shops in Haarlem, we did not have much of an appetite. It was as if he was attempting to shame us into ordering more than we desired. We held our ground and only ordered the one appetizer. Our one appetizer proved more than sufficient for everyone to have a taste and then we ordered our main courses. We had to ask whether we were going to get bread for the table. Apparently, our waiter had "forgotten." Whenever our glasses of water were empty, we had to go without, until we asked for more. My wife noticed that our waiter had received a visual sign from a co-worker indicating that they should get us to leave. The original waiter, and then a third person, then came to our table and asked if there was anything else he could assist us with or could he bring us our bill. I took the bill (177 Euros) and walked to the bar where our original waiter and this third person were. I calmly told the third person, who appeared to be in charge of our original waiter, that this was no way to treat a customer and that the original waiter was very rude to us. Although the original waiter was within earshot, he did not respond and his "superior" denied that one of his waiters would ever be rude to a customer. I advised him that in this day of social media, he would be wise to treat his customers better since they are paying the bills to keep the restaurant open. He was dismissive of me and refused to acknowledge that we had not be treated with respect. I paid our bill and we all left, without causing a scene, nor approaching our original waiter, as we realized the employees didn't care about us. And it was not a "Dutch" thing. This was our last meal after 8 nights in Amsterdam. At every location we went to, the staff, the vast majority of whom were Dutch, went out of their way to welcome us and to make us feel comfortable. We had a wonderful time traveling throughout The Netherlands and had eaten at several fine restaurants in Amsterdam. This place was just an oddity and should be avoided. There are plenty of other wonderful restaurants in this city whose employees value your business and make you feel welcome.More
So this place is really magical, a great bar service, and top notch food, I come here every time I am in Amsterdam and, maybe I should diversify even more but this place did cast a spell on me, it's delicious, it's fun, it's original...and it's very reachable. Just don't dream of eating here without a reservation.More
We had a lovely time here. The tasting menu was delicious and the wine pairing went really well. Service was good too. I loved the decor. Thanks for a fab evening!!
Loved Lion Noir. Service, drinks, lunch menu, ambiance all great. Will be back next time we’re in Amsterdam. Loved it!
We were taking a break from a day long birthday celebration. Our Dutch friend recommended the Lion Noir. The Maître D made a table for us although we did not have reservations. The staff took very good care of our group of 4. The borrata...appetizer and the ribeye were our highlights. The wine selection was good and not overpriced.More
