I had the privelege to have there three days in a row ; sept 12-13-14 and each lunch was beyond wonderful. My husband and have been in Amsterdam at this time of year for many years but it was always to cold to eat outside by the canal. However this year was perfect which only added to the wonderful service... More

Bord Eau as the name implies is a very wine oriented stunningly attractive restaurant in the De L'Europe Hotel. The dinnerware is highly customized and a special complement to the outstanding European cuisine. Every course was truly original and especially delicious. Hats off to Chef Richard Van Oostenbrugge.

Amazing food, great wine list, attentive service at the start...a little disappointed that at the end of our meal service was lacking.....the attention to first time diners should be the same for all

Amsterdam has four two star restaurants and I would rate it at the third spot. Librije zusje by far number one, Samhoud Places two and Ciel Blue four. Food is very good but just misses the mark a little bit. Just a bit too much salt, just a bit more effort needed on presentation, just too much a bit a... More

Every dish in this restaurant is an experience for your senses. I definitely recommend to get the degustation menu in order to get to try as much. Very nice dishes and full of flavor. Very good wine pairing. It costs but it's worth every penny.

We ate here because the Terrace was closed due to high wind and we were pleased. If you live in the US....that Osetra caviar is a steal at 120 euros for 50gms. We all had a one of the specials, which were very good. The wine list is also very reasonably priced. We took a bottle of Billecart-Salmon champagne for... More

Went for lunch with friends for my birthday and it was amazing, the food is out of this world. The service I felt like we were the only clients on the place, we had 4 waiters placing the dishes all at the same time just like the movies. It was amazing.

For a fine dining venue this was one of the most rude experiences I've had. We waited twenty minutes to bring the menu over and we had to ask twice. The waiters kept saying the maitre d would be bringing it over. In the end he just handed it over without so much as a word. The food was all... More

Two Michelin stars awarded Bord'Eau offers a culinary adventure directed by Executive Chef Richard van Oostenbrugge and Sous Chef Thomas Groot. Exceptional ingredients are blended to create symphonies of flavour, all complemented by the finest wines from around the globe. The intimacy of the salon-like setting, the classical simplicity of the decor and the grace and attentiveness of the service suggest high style and privilege overlooking the Amstel River.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
