Cosy restaurant. Very warm welcome by Max. Delicious food. Quick service. And a birthday cake with candle and music as a grand (surprise) finale. Very highly recommended! And...I'll be back.

We ate here on Wednesday night. We had a three course meal and it was delicious. Every course was amazing and I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I've ever had. I'm a vegetarian and my friends meat eaters and we all loved our food. Thank you!

My wife & my first visit to (primarily) an Indonesian restaurant & we were far from disappointed. Good / varied menu. Attentive service with excellent service throughout. Nice touches "would you like a break between courses", etc.. The cooked banana pie dessert to die for ! Have no hesitation in recommending.

We ate in MAX while on a holiday in Amsterdam in march after consulting the trip advisor reviews for Indonesian restaurants. They kindly fitted us in without a reservation. A beautiful well thought out menu with very good flavours and innovative ideas with a mixing of cuisines or opting for a traditional rice table. There is also an option to choose... More

We went for a special meal as a fallback after not getting in somewhere else and found it delightful. The staff were very friendly and efficient even though it got very busy. Every course was really good, unlike those places with delightful starters and desserts where it is rather more dull in the middle. We had 3 and a half... More

When I asked our tour guide what the official cuisine of the Dutch is, she said Argentine and Indonesian food. My husband and I had never had Indonesian food before and I desperately wanted to try it. A bartender recommended MAX, so we went there without a reservation. They seated us quickly and the service was impeccable. We went with... More

Thank you for your nice review and I'm really glad that you have a new nice food experience and that you also enjoyed it. Indonesian food is a rich Dutch culinary herritage because the centuries past. Being in Amsterdam is a change to find good Indonesian food. We have been to Max each of the last four times we have visited Amsterdam and it's still stunning. We (as usual) had the 3 course rijstafel and it was glorious. The starter is perfect and the 12 or so dishes that followed for the mains were excellent, particularly the aubergine and also the honey chicken. Then came the lovely... More

Had a tasting menu with recommended wines. The owner himself served the food for us. The menu gradually evolved from european to more spicy indonesian food. Basically, nothing to complain about. One annoyance was that meals were difficult to share with six persons: four fillets of cod, ten scallops, and so on. Noisy athmosphere because of hard walls.

Glad that you like the flavours of our International cuisine and that you taste many International dishes in our 4 course Sharing and Tasting menu. I'm sorry that the number of pieces of the sharing starters dishes was a bit confused for you to share (we didn't know that). We didn't want to start with too much of the same... More
