I had Pan fried scallops with white wine sauce and cinnamon caramel to start and Indonesian seasoned seabass filet in bananaleaf with a spicy lemongrass sauce, for main.. both were very good. service was friendly and quick. I took the 29euro/2 course meal but should have taken the 37 euro meal with two starters.

Thank you that you liked all the dishes that you ordered. We try to prepare the classics with a special touch like scallops with cream sauce and cinnamon or gravad lax with mango and pineapple salade or beetroot with sheep cheese and yellow curry, etc. As you said it's recommended also to take the second starters because they taste totally... This is the rarity - Indonesian food that is not tourist-aimed or poor quality. We had the set 'rice table' which started with chicken satay - a delicious peanut-infused sauce, not like the usual sweet peanut butter thing you normally get. Then, all the little dishes, which we ended up fighting over as they were so tasty. And a dessert... More

Good to know that you enjoyed our delicieus Indonesian food with the best quality what you hoped to get. We do our best to make the best what we do. I'm sorry for you that you didn't understand that you had to pay for one bottle Peligrino sparkling water if you emptied it during your dinner. To put a bottle... More

My husband and I were told that Indonesian food in Amsterdam was outstanding. We went strolling one night and came across Max. Food was good, and staff were lovely, however this was overshadowed by the feeling that they were trying to get every € out of you they could. Sparkling mineral water was on every table, as though it was... More

During the summer months the restaurant looks more attractive because it's small terrace in front of the window and it's also not our high season, it's much easier to get a table without reservation when you pass by. A perfect time to try your neighbourhood's restaurant and I'm glad you liked it :-). More

Visited on a short trip to Amsterdam and extremely worthy of a few of the limited hours we made here. The food was spectacular, every course was flavoursome and delicious. Lovely atmosphere in a romantic part of Amsterdam, and great service too. A must for anyone staying here!

It was our first experience with Indonesia cusine. We ordered the 3 courses tasting menu that started with a chicken satay salad followed by a tapa platter with 10 different dishes and a dessert with coconut ice-cream and mango sorbet. We got to taste different spice in the dishes. Our favorite was the chicken satay salad with rich lemon grass... More

Second time to this restaurant; last time was winter a couple of years ago, this time the height of summer. It was interesting to see that the season should affect the ambience; this time the feeling was much more casual, with al fresco dining and casually attired diners. Even so, standards remain high. Food is remarkably good and authentic. Duck... More

We had a lovely meal here. Its quite a small restaurant with a few tables outside and it was full. We chose the second sitting at 9pm which was perfect on a hot day. The food was amazing and the wines good too. Go if you can!

Thank you for placing your review about us. The Herenstraat where the restaurant is located is a very charming street, with small boutique shops and also some small restaurants like many old houses in Amsterdam they are cute and small. The only have limited tables outside and due the changing weather we can't reserve them but if you come early... More

We went here for dinner - you do need a reservation, they only have 2 seatings a night. The food was amazing and delicious and they had a great drink selection.
