The food was really good and reasonably priced! There’s a huge range of options, which all looked delicious. However, the signs were not in English and so we found it hard to know what to choose (but really this is our problem as tourists, not...their fault).More

Indeed, all food De Tokoman provided are like what I saw in a warung (local restaurant) in Indonesia. Fried rice, fried noodle, chicken curry obviously the same look and taste. Perhaps, there is culture relation between Surinamese and Javanese Indonesian. So, for Indonesian, Malay or...South East Asian you don't need to look around for finding the Asian restaurant when you miss your home cook. Just drop in this restaurant and taste the food. The incredible food that amazed me is a pastel (cake which filled by vegi and meat), it's size so big!! Also you can find kroepoek (Javanese crackers) here. Unfortunately, this restaurant was small and didn't have seat for a couple who can sit facing each other or for romantic moment.More

The selections are extensive. The seasoning is very well done. It’s quick and the prices are reasonable. Get the food to takeaway since the eating arrangements are paltry and there are reasonable nearby venues for a “picnic”.

Walked past here a few times and looked busy also at times. We noticed they did steamed buns and wanted to grab one. So we one day we got the kip/chicken steamed bun. It was not bad although quite peppery it was just on par...with most steamed buns.. Would buy one again if passing and fancied a steamed bun but I wouldn't make a special journey to this place for one..More

Sometimes you just want some spicy chicken and greasy noodles for your soul and you want to eat them undisturbed at a counter. Whether you eat party of one, take them home or enjoy with friends De Tokoman is reliable.

I have just order a wok and a roll from this place and I have had to throw it all away as I opened it. The roll was wrapped in plastic and had red spots. The smell from the noodles is really disgusting and they...taste like they were cooked two weeks ago. I am not a fussy person at all and never have had an experience like this so I felt like I needed to share it. I like to try different restaurants around the city and in my opinion there are so many better options!!!!!More

We walked by a few times and eventually took the plunge. We were disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. All the food was laid out on a long heated counter where you selected your choice of food. Our main concern was the...turnover of the food. If it has been sitting in the heated counter for most of a day, the flavors and texture of the food would deteriorate. We walked by several days in a row and the food did not seem to be turning over much but we decided to try it anyway. Surprise! It was exactly what we predicted. The noodles and rice, with the selected dishes all tasted the same and were mushy. It was not a good meal and we never went back. I think that if there was more turnover in the food or if you pick it up in the AM rather than in the PM, it may be better but we decided there were other options out there.More

I needed something quick and filling before I went to school. It just fast food, but it was good and a lot of value for the price! I had some fried rice, beans and chicken. Only thing is that they should add more chicken and...a little less rice. The ratio was just a little off, but overall very good. This should be amazing when you're drunk and hungryMore

No I’m not bluffing. I was underestimated this restaurant before because I tried so many Indonesian restaurant around Europe, all tasted awful. So we ordered one portion for two. Once we tried their noodle+spicy chicken+egg, we fell in love instantly. The staff is very friendly...and he can speak English, Dutch, Indonesia. Thank you Moses! Nice to meet you!More

Was walking around the red light district when we chanced upon this store. The rice box was filling and inexpensive fastfood. Plus you have a lot of options as the topping.

So there was I, on my own having walked, tram'd and Metro'd my way around Amsterdam with my camera for a day and was starting to get hungry. I remember somebody saying once that if you want a good place to eat then go where...the locals go and you can't get a much better example of a 'local' than a Police Officer looking relaxed outside on a short break and who seemed to be a regular of the establishment. The concept is easy, for Euro 6.95 you get a full WokBox where typically you choose rice or noodles and then add a vegetable dish and a meat dish, don't worry there's plenty to choose from and other options exist. I went for the basic idea and thoroughly enjoyed my choices. There are a few seats inside but I found it easier to take my box out and find a quiet (ha ha!!) place to sit with a nice view. Please accept this isn't a restaurant and more of a take out. Very well organised with friendly helpful staff and certainly the best value in town and thankfully different from a burger or steak grill.More
