I went with my partner for his birthday and we were both very impressed. It has a cozy bistro feel with friendly, knowledgeable staff. We were particularly impressed with the quality wine list and that was before we tasted the exceptional food. You can see the kitchen from the restaurant which is always an impressive sight. Despite the fact it... More

small and friendly, low keyed, good food. We had an appetizer platter that was out of this world. Great for our business meeting, very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. I will return....

If you are looking for a small friendly welcoming Bistro where the food is good, the beer is cold and the service is perfect give this a go. We had a great evening and were made to feel really welcome in what felt like a real local restaurant. 10/10 from us.

We wanted to eat in a neighborhood restaurant filled with locals eating great food -- and this place is IT. When we had dinner, we weren't aware of any other tourists there, the staff was really friendly and the food just excellent. It's great to walk through the Jordaan and wind up here, but it gets crowded so I would... More

This restaurant is a little bit out of the way - if walking probably a bit easier from the no 1 tram than No 3. You'll know what I mean if you look at a map. We booked a table for a Saturday night - which is probably essential- and from the moment we arrived we felt welcome in a... More

Vlaming is a great place to dine. Been there more than 5 times and it's a regular if you want to dine with friends or family. The menu is restricted to a max of 3 to 4 choices per course and all of them are well prepaired. Don't forget the wines! They are really good and you can choose per... More

DIned in both the Brasserie and the Restaurant. Both excellent. Small but interesting menu and excellent wine list. Neither place is large, so booking is advised. Both steaks and Tuna are cooked with precision in the open plan kitchen. Service is professional attentive; not intrusive. I went as part of a group; but would be idle fo ra candlelit romantic... This restaurant lives up to its reputation. It is unpretentious and simple in design, but the food is fantastic. We had the pork fillet and the fish of the day (swordfish) with sides of fresh beans, snow peas and mushrooms and pumpkin. The meat, fish and vegetables were perfectly cooked served with complimentary sauces. We had the yoghurt ice cream,... More

Our fave dinner in Amsterdam! This is a small restaurant with excellent food and ambience and amazing service and personal attention. Thank you to Franz (owner) and Jeff (our waiter) for a super fun night, with great food (and best limoncello ever), atmosphere and service. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Amsterdam!

We had the goat cheese as a starter, it was not exactly as expected: too little cheese, too little vegetables, too much dough. Excellent risotto and steak indeed. The total cost of the steak was at the high side because I ordered both vegetables and French fries. Gorgeous crème brulee to finish. As said, the price level was a bit... More

A family owned bistro where we serve nice dishes with a good quality - price relation in a friendly atmosphere. We serve here the "worldfamous" (anyway in Amsterdam) Sticky Toffee Pie and home-made Limoncello.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
