We really enjoyed our early dinner during a recent trip to Amsterdam. We had 7 courses (buffalo mozzarella with sea vegetables, raw fresh anchovies, kolerabbe with hazelnuts, roasted cabbage with almonds and soy butter, rabbit, cacao ice cream, steak and cheese). We also got the sushimi style makarel and bone marrow. Everything was really delicious and the anchovies were incredibly... More

Although we expected great things here based on prior Tripadvisor ratings, we did not have that good experience. We arrived for our 9PM reservation, and found that a couple of menu items that we would have liked were no longer available. So we settled for the steak for 2 - full of gristle and not very good). As starters we... More

A very cosy restaurant where the quality of the food and wines are most important to the staff. Our 7 course menu of carefully selected vegetables, meat and fish was an absolute treat. The courses came with wines to complement the taste. Perfect value for money!

A cosy and inviting bistro located on a pretty canal. We had the 5 course menu which appeared to be wonderful, or at least the waiter thought so, but it was a little disappointing. The starters were quite small to share, oh, did I mention that I'm a chef (retired), and tbe main was half a slice of well cooked... More

Small restraint that has a small set menu. They use seasonal and sustainable ingredients to create the dishes. great service and wine list too. we really enjoyed our dinner here and would visit again in the future.

Small restaurant, in a delightful setting with a wonderful set menu and open kitchen. We had a wonderfully knowledgeable waiter and a great evening.

Recommended by a native from Amsterdam. Nice and cosy place with surprisingly few tables and many waiters (only men!). Very good wine and food. Simple but delicious. Both of us ate fish (despite the fact that place is supposed to be famous for meat). None of us regret it, both red mullet and skate wing (!) were fantastic. Yummy!

My friend and I made a reservation and we were lucky enough to have our choice of outside table, inside, or "on the boat". We'd seen people eating in a boat, docked at the side of the restaurant, as we approached over the canal bridge. We chose the boat and it was fantastic! It's two long tables running the length... a lovely small and friendly restaurant offering a menu prepared with a lot of thought and love. Each course a visual delight, explained by staff passionate in what they have prepared.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
