Visited Billy last night. It was very hot in Amsterdam but luckily they had a few tables outside. I had the pad thai which is normally served with egg and meat or prawns but as I am vegan I asked if I could have it with just vegetables and it was no problem. It was lovely, tastefull and a lot.... I had the Thom ka kai soup and it was perfect. Surprisingly the spice level is turned down so if you are a true Thai fan make sure you request it hot. The place is as authentic as they come. Good fresh spices and dishes that are well prepared. I highly recommend the place. Reasonably priced great food!

Discovered Billy Thai's while cruising around the neighborhood of our hotel. We were attracted by the intimate setting (very non-touristy feel), appealing aroma, and visually tantalizing dishes. We were not disappointed! We have eaten a lot of Thai food, even in Thailand, and Billy Thai's is now our favorite (oddly replacing our previous favorite which is located in Amsterdam as... More

We saw this restaurant from across our hotel and was curious how their food would be. I guess most of the natural (from Thailand) ingredients and leaves may not be available in Amsterdam? But they did their best which was okay. The waiter was very friendly and nice. I guess the Resto needs a little of interior design to make... More

Absolutely great, with various delicious dishes and at a reasonable price! The red curry with prawns and pineaple is a must! Great option in Amsterdam!

Found Billy Thai's just by chance. Luckily they invited us in as they were preparing vegetables for the evening and also just about to have their lunch. We gather it's a family run business. The menu was quite extensive and the portions were large. Ordered a couple of soups to start, which were delicious. Followed by prawn noodles and chicken... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
