Been going here for years, but on the last visit the menu had changed and food was better than ever. Don't know if they had a new chef. 'Sloppy Joe pizza' was really tasty as were the fries and mayo... Staff are always friendly.

Lovely food, beautifully prepared. We had goats cheese focaccia and a falafel salad. Very helpful waitress who assisted by translating some of the Dutch into English. Don't be put off if the construction is still going on outside, it in no way detracted from a lovely light lunch in a fantastic city. The draft beer went down particularly well on... More

Visited here for lunch on our first day in Amsterdam - staying in the museum district. Food good; 'Sloppy Joe pizza' was yum as were the fries and mayo! Good coffee and beer too. Would recommend and would visit again on next trip to the area.

We actually wanted to go to another restaurant down the road from Martinot but we were told we have to wait 1 hr for a table. So we gave up and walked down and saw this little cozy restaurant so we went inside, and we were pleasantly impressed. We ordered a salami pizza, chicken mozzarella pasta and a side of... More

We are staying in Amsterdam and wanted to find a local restaurant near to where we were staying. We found the Martinot and we were not disappointed. My main meal pasta with grilled veg and feta was out of this world followed by carrot cake which was also delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Amazing gnocchi! I was staying in a hotel close to this restaurant and was searching for a place to have a not so expensive dinner... I ordered the gnocchi that the waiter recommended, with dried tomatoes, ham, arugula.... It was amazing! I loved it!

And you can’t believe what they can do with peanut butter! On my lunch stop I just needed something light, and the panini part of their menu was intriguing. I ordered a dark bread panini that had peanut butter and some other wonderful flavours that tasted great. I’d planned on dessert, as well, but was too full. Went back for... More

After visiting Van Gogh's Museum we have just been wandering and looking for a place to have a dinner. We stepped into the first cafe/restaurant that looked pleasant and had reasonable prices. We expected it to be fine, but in the end we were stunned by its food. We had a very tasty paprika soup, fantastic gnocchi with smoked beef... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
