I met a almost local friend with ties to the restaurant here. He had never eaten here and wanted to try it. I had beef carpaccio and ostrich. It was fantastic. Better than beef. For Amsterdam it was quite inexpensive considering the quality. Highly recommend.

It is divine. Great food, nice staff and venue. The menu offers enough options to satisfy everyone in the group offering ostrich (get it!), fish, vegetarian options. You pick your three courses from a list of about 5 options each and I had a hard time deciding because they were all so tempting. Try to get in early cause there... More

Did not expect South African ostrich meat in the middle of Amsterdam! The menu is however far more than just ostrich. We had the pork belly and fennel salad for starters. Lamb stew was excellent main. Service and atmosphere very good. Liked the energy and vide. A small place so it fills up quickly. A high quality three course meal... More

This is a small, cozy and chilled restaurant by Amsterdams many chanals. They have seating outside and inside. Pretty packed, but service was still good. Local produce, mostly organic. Very, very fresh and tasty. Would especially recommend the lamb (mutton) dish; it's from a local farm who only do organic lamb. Can also highly recommend the fennel salad with goat... More

For our last evening in Amsterdam, we wandered upon this place. The place was small and slightly underground, with the tables quite close together, for a cozy dinner with the other guests. We were seated immediately, and the place was very busy at around 8 pm when we entered. They have a fixed price three course menu for 26.50 euro.... More

Our family (2 adults, 2 teens) had a lovely dinner here. It's a very small place so we were happy to have a reservation. The 3 course meal was €27 and we all enjoyed the food. The hot, crusty bread and garlic butter they brought us started dinner off right! The ostrich steak and all the desserts were delicious (the... More

As an ostrich will put her head in the ground, we walk down a few steps to be cut from the outside world. It is already the second time I ate at De Struisvogel, and both time were great experiences. First, the menu is worth its price as quality of food is good and the quantity enough, because of the... More

We found this restaurant while walking around the city. I snapped a picture of it to show our concierge at the Banks Mansion, and they made our reservation for Monday night which was the last night of our journey. We arrived to a full restaurant, and were seated at a small table. The only server was expertly handling all of... More

This place is below street level and quite small. They only have a 3 course pre fix menu. It was very crowded. The food was not favorable. Combined with the high level of noise we did not enjoy the experience with our dining companions. As a matter of fact we could not even hear what they had to say. Would... More

A family friend living in Amsterdam recommended this restaurant to us. Had a high-end feel but the prices were reasonable - €26.50 for the three course set menu and €18 for a bottle of the house red. Food, wine and service were all fantastic - the waitress was very attentive and her English was good. We especially enjoyed the tuna... More
