This is a must try, even if you're not too crazy about fries :) The line is usually long, but well worth the wait.

I wrote a review recently about the excellent fries at Vlaams - they really are the best - but for some reason the rating came out as one instead of five. Not surprisingly the manager responded asking why only give one with a good review. Mistake! so have rectified this and apologies to the manager. If in Amsterdam then this... More

Vlaams is located just off Kalvertstraat - one of the main shopping streets. It's tiny and there is always a line. The fries are unique: thick cut potato fried to be crisp. You will be delighted!

Recommended as the best fries in Amsterdam by a food tour we were on. I couldn't imagine finding anything better. They offer interesting sauce flavours. I was feeling adventurous so got a satay type sauce with mayonnaise on top of my fries. It was a surprisingly super combination! The cafe opposite allows you to sit outside with your chips as... We were only here for 4 days but after a first visit on our first day we had to go back a second time before we left. AMAZING! So so tasty and definitely lives up to the recommendations. We visited in October so both times there was less than a 5minute wait. The people serving were really friendly and -... More

A friend of mine recommended this place and I'm so glad she did! The fries where crispy and (not too) salty and I had mine with garlic sauce. Mid size portion was almost too big for lunch. There is no place to sit but if you take drink from the opposite restaurant you can eat there.

We visited Amsterdam more then 30 times and this is the first stop after putting our stuff in an hotel or airbnb place. It's just perfectly hand made with fresh potatoes , crunchy from the outside and soft inside. We love Oorlog - mayonnaise with peanut sauce- and we add onions. Our kid prefers ketchup and mustard ... take the... More

Full disclosure: Vleminckx was highly recommended to me by several friends and we b-lined for it immediately upon our arrival. We went late afternoon so there wasn't much of a queue and it moved quickly. The fries were hot and delicious, lots of sauces to choose from and they're cheap. Would definitely recommend for your dinner or afternoon Amsterdam snack!

You will see lots of places in Amsterdam selling cones of fries but usually there is not a line out the door, except at this place. I've been here probably a dozen times and yes it is generally worth the wait. These are the best fries I have had in Amsterdam. Not only are the fries good but they also... More

French fries with mayo are a must when visiting Amsterdam. This little place was packed every time we went past it. The owner is adorable and patient with us visiting Americans. Don't pass this place up!
