We visited the New Season restaurant recently and would definitely recommend it as a good place to eat. The food was cooked to a very good standard and the service was really quick. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would eat there again.

Service was quick at the start of the meal, until we had finished and then no one came to clear our plates. Food was pretty average, the spring rolls were nice. We had the sweet and sour chicken for main which was pretty plain, and the curry beef was pretty boring as well. The fried rice was the best part... More

The wife and I found a proper little gem tucked into a small ally in the city centre and it takes the shape of New Season. An honest little outfit with no frills and really decent food. Many of the more popular restaurants in Amsterdam can be very busy but even when the New season is full, it's still rather... More

We stopped to New Season in our long stroll through Amsterdam's streets and canals. Surprised by the variety of the dishes in the menu and the good selection of them. Chose the mushroom soup and a sweet and sour chicken specialty which was enchanting. Friendly staff and calm place to sit for a lunch or dinner. Recommend it for Asian... More

The first restaurant we ate this vocation. It was great. Nice people. Good food. Even the children liked it. We will come again.

I visit Amsterdam frequently. Despite many visits, and despite staying regularly on Warmoesstraat, and despite being a big fan of Chinese, I had never been to New Season before. I ate here, my first night of a seven night visit. I also ate here the third night, it was so good. On past Amsterdam Visits, I tended to go the... More

We were recommended this by a local resident. The restaurant is quite small and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We found that the food was only average and not near the best Chinese food we have experienced. The restaurant was very warm so we were glad when we could get out.

Whilst taking an evening stroll, my wife and I came across this relatively small restaurant and the appearance and aroma enticed us to enter. It was a good decision as there was an excellent ambience; the service was swift, the food great and reasonably priced;; the staff friendly and efficient. We definitely recommend this restaurant.

Reason for the title is that is how it is spelt in Dutch I suppose otherwise is a bad typo. Anyway really small little Chinese down a side street from the dam square. Walked past it smelt the Chinese smell and couldn't walk away. Lovely decor just like a side street gem and the food was good. Prawn crackers felt... More

This place was an accidental find when looking but couldn't find a Thai place. The service was really quick and the food was well priced. The starters were lovely and hot - I had the Dim Sum and the wife had the spring rolls. Opted for the lemon chicken and came with free rice and Sam had the sweet and... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
