We were a little skeptical as we stumbled upon this restaurant. We wanted some warming food on a cold day but weren't sure if the food was going to be too oily to eat but we took a chance. The soup, dim sum and spring rolls we had to start were fresh and delicious. The mains ordered were also just... More

We came here after the Amsterdam marathon for a feast and thoroughly enjoyed our meal! It was very authentic Chinese- something which can be hard to come by! It was also well priced and the waiting staff were lovely- I got a rose at the end of my meal! I think we spent around 50 euros between us and had... More

We stumbled out of the Hotel and into this restaurant. Wow. Quite possibly the nicest Chinese I've had. The dim sum in particular was lovely. Was not expecting such a nice restaurant here.

I had never visited here before, but have eaten at other Asian restaurants in the city. It is a small, quite dark, restaurant, located on a small but busy (pedestrian/tourist) street. I visited for a late lunch hence it was very quiet. The food was good and I found the servers friendlier than many of the other Asian restaurants in... More

We visited the New Season restaurant recently and would definitely recommend it as a good place to eat. The food was cooked to a very good standard and the service was really quick. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would eat there again.

Service was quick at the start of the meal, until we had finished and then no one came to clear our plates. Food was pretty average, the spring rolls were nice. We had the sweet and sour chicken for main which was pretty plain, and the curry beef was pretty boring as well. The fried rice was the best part... More

The wife and I found a proper little gem tucked into a small ally in the city centre and it takes the shape of New Season. An honest little outfit with no frills and really decent food. Many of the more popular restaurants in Amsterdam can be very busy but even when the New season is full, it's still rather... More

We stopped to New Season in our long stroll through Amsterdam's streets and canals. Surprised by the variety of the dishes in the menu and the good selection of them. Chose the mushroom soup and a sweet and sour chicken specialty which was enchanting. Friendly staff and calm place to sit for a lunch or dinner. Recommend it for Asian... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
