Steaks are just perfect. Either beef or horse meat, now you can choose. I can recommend the "haring, paling, zalm" starter, that's the one I always take. Once they forgot to bring the starter. We got three free desserts to make good for it (we were just two, but I think I did look like I enjoyed the chocolate so... More

This restaurant has cute local decor and a great menu. The wait staff was lovely and the service was good. Prices were more than reasonable and the food was delicious. I definitely suggest it!

We had smoked eel, meat balls in tomato sauce and chicken satay (peanut sauce) (there were three of us). For mains we had horse fillet steak, done rare. Served with chips and salad. All very good, the meat was very tender, beautiful steaks in the European style. For desserts we had ice cream with advocaat, crème brulee and ice cream... More

Wood furniture & paneling decorate this traditional Dutch pub known for its steaks & fried sole. Interior dates back to 1949 and you'll hear Dutch music in the background. Book in advance as it's popular with the locals and tourist. Great service and pub like food you'd expect in the UK except they serve "horse", really!

What a nice little surprise to find this pub in what's a very quiet street. Packed with locals it is easy to see why. What you get here is first rate friendly service and value for money eating. Great bunch of people running the place we would return for sure.

Nice restaurant. Small place but with a warm atmosphere and a very good service. If you are lucky you can find a free table, otherwise you can share the big one with other guests, which is also a nice experience. The steak is of good quality and well prepared, with good combinations of sauces. The price is from 25 to... More

The pub itself is so utterly Dutch. It's dark, lots of deep colored woods, basic wooden tables and chairs and almost too cozy. Counter that the menu is interesting it's elaborate it caters for all (although heavy on the meat - no complaints here!!). The staff are friendly and service is good. One tip: wear layers as it gets very... More

Really welcoming small 'brown cafe' style restaurant, close to the Mercure hotel. Great atmosphere, obviously really popular with locals as it was always packed, unlike the restaurant almost next door. We ate here twice in our four-night stay - much better value than the two other places we visited. Piet and his staff were so friendly. Tenderloin beef was amazing,... More

Accidentally booked this place thinking it was somewhere else I'd been before. Decided to stay in any case. Menu was fairly limited if you don't like beef or horse. Yes, horse. Had beef tenderloin, which was nicely done with a stroganoff sauce on the side and some chips. Enjoyed the meal but have had better.

Yes a great little find "off the beaten track" - but less than 50 meters from Mecure Canal District hotel. Group of four had pleasant meal including beef in red wine sauce and another had beef & horse steaks. Served with chips and great salad. All very tender meat, but my only grumble would be a slightly bigger portion of... More
