We had a nice breakfast here: coffee is very good. bread-and-butter plus marmalade, yoghurt with fruit-muesly, French toast good. Service young and easy, with courtesy. Placement good, in 9 Street area. Bill...bit expensive, honestly.

In Amsterdam for a weekend in a hotel that did not include breakfast. Once we'd eaten here we were pleased to have ventured out. A great selection of tasty morning treats, from the usual scrambled egg, bacon etc to croissants, pancakes, fruit and muesli. A great kick-start to the day. Only criticism is that the coffee's are small and served... More

Came upon this little cafe in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam, in a small side street between two canals. Great atmosphere as it was full to bursting, with a fairly young crowd. Food was good (my wife declared her quiche one of the best she had ever eaten and my chicken salad was good, too). Had homemade chocolate brownie and apple... More

When in Amsterdam we always start with breakfast at Nielsen. It's unpretentious and welcoming. You can have a croissant, an omelet, a full breakfast or delicious carrot cake or divine apple pie. Great coffees, fresh squeezed orange juice or hor chocolate, you'll be pleased.

Decent without being spectacular. Nice chilled environment and staff friendly. Food was nice but portions sizes small for the price. Excellent coffee though!

Nice place, crowded but good sandwiches. Not much to complain. Straight forward and good taste and sized portions. Just go and enjoy

Breakfast was great, good service and coffee. If you get there early you don't have to wait. Later in the day gets very busy.

At the suggestion of our hotel, we went to Nielsen for a light lunch and were extremely pleased. My husband had the spinach soup and said it was delicious as well as the goat cheese salad which he said was great. I had the vegetable salad and loved it -- artichokes, capers, tomatoes, lemon thyme vinaigrette. In addition it is... More
