We stopped by for breakfast based on the reviews of our peers on TA and enjoyed ourselves greatly. The freshly cut and made breakfast was both delicious and was priced fairly. The freshly squeezed orange juice (a thing in the NL in general) was good and swiss omelette was a tasty addition (or the other way around). Good place if... More

I'm a Dutchie living abroad but I make sure that everytime I visit Holland i pay a visit to Broodje Bert. The sandwiches are big, tasty, fresh and nicely priced. The location and view are stunning. Try the grilled ham/cheese/tomato toast or the roast beef/rocca/garlic sauce sandwich. Your sandwich will arrive with a huge salad on the side.

Broodje Bert serves, what I consider to be, the best sandwiches in the area (Centrum, Spui). I recently had the 'Broodje Bert', which is lamb on turkish bread, and it was delightful. Portions are large, coffee is excellent, and the price is fair.

Based on recommendation from our hotel, which was very close, we went for a quick lunch, and were not disappointed. Nice menu selection, and pleasant service.

Great coffee and fruit juice with lovely bread, cheese, ham, tomato, lettuce, butter, jam and croissant for less than 8 euros. There's not a lot of space but the quality of the good is great and at a bargain price. Lunch menu looked great too but didn't have time to try. I minute from hotel Esther's and an excellent alternative... More

We have breakfasted here the last 2 mornings. For €7.50 you can have an excellent breakfast that will last you the day as you wander around Amsterdam. Crusty baguette, croissant, ham, cheese, jam, butter, tea or coffee and fresh salad. The freshly squeezed orange juice is the best. There is an equally good deal with bacon and eggs etc.

Cafés like Broodje Bert epitomise my favourite parts of the Amsterdam food scene: fresh, healthy ingredients served with a smile to a canal-side table. The salubrious atmosphere of the tranquil canal surrounds you as you await your food. Freshly squeezed juices and ripe vegetables grace most dishes. The omelette was the perfect dish to fuel me for a days worth... More

Small inside and terrace outside all basic but sandwiches, omelets and especially the broodje Bert (for meatlovers) are super good. Fresh salad goes along most dishes. Order with quick and efficient staff inside pick your drink and presto. Be warned it can be very busy!

Cute deli. Service was fast despite being quite crowded. Sandwiches and salads were satisfying. Value for money. Location was ideal for people watching being in a corner of an alley facing the canal and a bridge.

If you are looking for the best food and a very cheap price, Bert's is your place. Finding breakfast early in any morning in Amsterdam is a challenge but this restaurant is open at 7 am with breakfast specials. If you want a great sandwich on a bed of fresh made salad, which would be a meal in itself... Bert's... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
