Dwaze Zaken is one of our favourite places. Dutch porridge, pancakes, omelets are delicious. We had dinner of Thai cod and 4 cheese gnocchi which was so tasty and good value. Service can be slow but when on holiday there is no rush. Staff friendly.

I suddenly had a few hours to kill so I popped into this place because I didn't want junk food, pancakes, or chance it with the hotel nearby. I was on a bit if budget that being a Tuesday night so when I first saw the menu I was a little worried - not expensive, but not cheap either with... More

Great place for breakfast. Reserved at first as the place seemed empty. The decor is cool and the outside seating area very comfy. Perfect on a sunny day. The apple and cinnamon pancake is a must try if you like sweet things. Great cup of coffee to get you going in the morning.

It's a quaint little building with in and outdoor seating. The atmosphere is wonderful and welcoming. You can seat yourself. Very clean! The staff was wonderful and the prices aren't terrible. If I were to ever come back with friends, this would be the breakfast place of choice!

We were coming from a tour and we wanted to give try out Dwaze Zaken which is a few minutes from the Central Station. We did enjoy the interior which very beautiful. There was some Christian text on the walls which makes the place unique. The service was welcoming and good. We took 2 dishes: Cheese fondue (with goats cheese... More

Dwaze Zaken has very quality cafe food and is at a central location, being virtually across the street from the Centraal Station. The service was good, though not tops compared to high-end places or restaurants in Amsterdam. The decor is beautiful inside. The venue itself is small, but cozy.

I've had some good breakfasts in hotels and cafes in Amsterdam but this was stunning this morning! Superb coffee, real fresh great orange juice and the breakfast itself was top quality and really good value. They open at 0900 and I arrived at 0904 and there was already two ladies enjoying the placement of this place for 'people watching' and... More

Had a great spontaneous lunch here. They have a big menu, suitable for breakfast, lunch & dinner. We had the hummus with grilled veg on toast with salad which was delicious. The waitress was very friendly and was working very hard, when we arrived she seemed to be running the place alone! We did have to wait a while to... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
