We saw this really busy little place across from central station and were curious to see what all the fuss was about. Good choice. We both had soup, I had goulash and my husband had tom yum. There was lovely bread too. Gorgeous. The table next to us was havin some kind of celebration and had several platters of sandwiches... More

Comfy place in good location. I had a burger and hot chocolate which I felt were good. However my friends did not enjoy their food as much!

I'm coming back! Amazing coffee...for my taste. Lunch menu burger is yum and staff working were super friendly. Nice chilled vibe. Close to central station. Reason for my visit: Lunch date with my mum.

Just went to this restaurant as we happened to be walking past and wanted breakfast. We both ordered the omelet, as a change from our usual full English. Not at all what we expected, but extremely tasty and as such can thoroughly recommend it. Came on some local type toasted bread with mustard, the omelet type thing and some green... More

I ordered an English breakfast. What arrived was not a normal English breakfast and the portion size was very small. It said nowhere that mustard was going to be added anywhere but both of our English breakfasts came out with bread smoothed with mustard. The bread was about 80% of the meal with the way they served it. I don't... More

Our first visit to Dwaze Zaken was as soon as we arrived and walked over from Centraal Station. However, despite giving our order of only two coffees to the waitress, and then repeating to a waiter half an hour later, we waited 45 mins for two regular coffees. The second time we visited was as we were leaving Amsterdam -... More

A Dutch friend took me here for breakfast last Saturday Oct 8th and I thought it was really great - Smallish menu which sometimes is a lot better, had the French breakfast - very good and very good price. The staff were really friendly. Enjoyed it so much that I visited the next day for lunch, Amsterdam Osse Sausage, mustard... More

After 48 hours in Amsterdam and feeling disappointed with quality of food and coffee so far, we tried dwaze zaken, near central station, for breakfast. My partner had the farmer's ommellete which was excellent while I enjoyed real granola (not sugary) with yoghurt and berry coulis. Delicious. These dishes were served with orange juice and good percolated coffee by a... More

Dwaze Zaken is one of our favourite places. Dutch porridge, pancakes, omelets are delicious. We had dinner of Thai cod and 4 cheese gnocchi which was so tasty and good value. Service can be slow but when on holiday there is no rush. Staff friendly.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
