We were lucky to accidently walk into this restaurant as we got hungry. I must say this must have been the best meal my husband and I ever had anywhere. Very authentic! You can see your meal being prepared and how clean the kitchen is. The only thing that was not great was the wine, but we did not go... More

all are reasonable Staff very friendly and helpful. Wine pairings very good. Not sure I would have chosen veal cheek, but it was very tasty. After dinner, the chef showed how the dish was prepared. Very open kitchen. Nice experience. Visited nov 2013

Was reccommended by a local person; that this was the best Thai in the area. We weren't disappointed. The food, the service, the wine and atmosphere was stupendous. Good size portions with lots of fragrant flavours. We had the satay chicken and the ribs to start and Pad Thai for main course all delicious.

We had been doing the Red Light District for a few hours and were tired and hungry. Were heading out of the area to find a spot for dinner and came across this restaurant. Weren't quite sure about it but are really glad we stopped. Very cosy, view of the kitchen, polite professional service, (even though we only ordered one... More

Arrived with minimal expectations but food was first class. Intended to sit outside but soon suffered a shower but despite being busy a table inside was soon found. If you like Thai food this restaurant is a must.

This used to be my favorite Thai anywhere in the world. I heard a few years ago it had changed owners and went there soon after, finding it much the same. This time, though, it appears the new owners have put their stamp on the restaurant. Appetizers are close to what I remember, but we ordered our "usual" of Beef... More

We turned up as a group of seven with no reservation on a Friday evening but managed to get a table. Service was excellent and it was explained that as food is cooked fresh there would be a delay if we all had separate dishes. We chose some mixed starters and three mains to share and these all came in... More

Had a craving for Thai dinner on my last day in Amsterdam and choose the Kooning van Siam after reading Trip advisor reviews. This is a very tiny restaurant located along Voorburgwal canal near the RLD. The ground floor has probably 5 tables and theres also a 1st floor. At 9pm the restaurant was already full and I was regretfully... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
