MICHELIN Guide's Point of View

The industrial look fits this former woodshed like a dream. The menu is divided into cold, spicy, rich and sweet dishes, using a touch of acidity here ...

De Houtloods is one of the best places we have been to in 2020. Delicious food and comfortable service made our rainy day sunny;) We liked the recommended wine very much, even took pics of every bottles. Thanks for offering us this wonderful experience. We...would definitely come here again :)More

A while a go since the last visit. Still a very good restaurant with fine dining. We choose the 4 course surprise menu. Courses were very good with a interesting taste. People were very friendly and explaining all the courses very well. Small thing to...improve is the standard cookie which came with the coffee. This can be done better. You need to make a reservation upfront because it's really busy.More

De Houtloods is one of the better restaurants in the city of Tilburg. The kitchen has a strong sense of modernity and the dishes are often pleasantly surprising. Obviously the skilled kitchen staff has a love for product and profession. That results in a nice...and pleasant culinary experience. The wine menu leaves nothing to desire and all wines balance well with the dishes. The ambiance in the restaurant is light and tasteful. In summer a nice terrace is available so you can sit outside in a city atmosphere.More

It is very cozy restaurant in a very good location. All they served is unique to them in a very spectacular way. The way they service and the taste of all you ate are memorable. Highly recommended!

I had the boef tartare, and I pulled out a bit of it from the superb roll of Spanish jam on wrapping it. Together, I felt they were too much of two different good things. One or the other would build a more coherent, better...dish. I found the same fault with the (very small) course of marvelous white asparagus. White asparagus is a phenomenal delicacy all on its own and does not need extra accompanying taste constructions, however calculated and refined. I then had the teriyaki, a dish that is already a complex concoction. It took them half an hour to bring it out after the asparagus, and my patience was frayed. (We had had cocktails and paired wines with everything so far, and then a vast, seemingly interminable dry spell.) When it came, however, it was an indisputable —it was a majestic triumph. I dipped a bit of bread into the little pool of surrounding oil (portions are small here). It’s the greatest experience of oil I’ve ever had, for all my years in Tuscany. The chef here is a genius, if only he or she were a little more of an Enlightenment than a baroque one. Dinner was close to a hundred dollars a head. I’d save up and go back.More

The location in very nice. It’s quite minimal (mostly wood and glass), but very cozy. The dishes are very particular: opposite flavors are matching perfectly together. We ate some things we never thought about and the result was just spectacular (also the desserts!). I suggest...this restaurant especially for romantic dinners because of the soft and harmonious atmosphere. The staff is very kind, ready for every kind of explanation but never intrusive.More

It is great being in the Tilburg "Spoorzone" (Railway zone); special and pleasant atmosphere. The food is high quality and very refined. Pleasant service. Pricing is on the high side.

We had the six course chef's tasting menu and each was more incredible than the last. From the amuse-bouche to the gorgeously presented dessert, our taste buds were dancing all night. What made the experience most special, though, was the warm and attentive service by...our waiter. He could not have done a better job. We each have some dietary restrictions and I don't normally eat very much at all, but we weren't made to feel as though this was an annoyance for him or for the chef. On the contrary, they seemed genuinely happy to accommodate us. Highly recommend this place...what a fantastic surprise.More

De houtloods offer a menu with a fresh approach. You get an indication of prices per course first, then a graded menu from dishes that are ‘light’ to ‘rich’ and ‘sweet’. We opted for a seviche of mackarel (rather than a whitefish seviche) and were...pleasantly surprised by the dish and quite extraordinary veggies. Our second dish was,by choice, a cheese variety. All to go with excellent bread and a very decent chardonnay. Pleasant attentive and friendly staff. I was helped in my coat when leaving. And who says that courtacy does not get you anywhere?More
