The biggest attraction to this restaurant is the shape: it is in an old stationary train near the main train station of Tilburg. The food is great and the staff is friendly. Beware that you can reserve a time slot of a bit less than...two hours, because they have a limited number of tables. So don't be late! There is plenty of time to eat a 3 course dinner though. I had the poké bowl, which was nice, and some home made green tea which was much tastier than the bottled stuff (which I like as well).More

After a serious time again dinner at the wagon. The food and ambiance was still very good. We still struggle a bit with the relative small table.

Atmosphere is fantastic: an old train, lovely! Steak tartare for starters, and the tuna as the main course was absolutely perfect. The lady who looked after us was great.

Located in the 'new old center area of Tilburg, formerly used for train maintenance, where a lot of old buildings have been transformed for a different use. But this place De Wagon is located in an old Belgian train compartment. It has a number of...seating areas (each 4 persons around a table on either side) and in the front there is a bar area and the kitchen. When seated it feels like you are sitting in a real train coupe and other trains can be spotted driving by. They also have a small terrace facing south and even on a sunny winters' day you can use the seats outside. We had a good lunch here and some drinks. There was a waiting time for the meal but everything was fresh and we were served by the cook himself. The place seems popular as it was almost full even though we were a little late for lunch. The experience was a pleasant one and if you are looking for something different this might just be the place to go to. The menu options are not too lavish but there is a good variety of dishes and also for dinner you can make your choice here. There are some things hinting to the train atmosphere like the small cart in which you get your bill. Close to the train and bus station and parking not too far away.More

We only sat here for a mid-afternoon drink, but the concept is so cool that we really enjoyed it. We were able to take lots of photos inside as well (it was empty in there due to the gorgeous weather outdoors). My partner is a...photographer and the staff was accommodating and lovely. It was our first trip to Tilburg and our stop at De Wagon was just one of several nice experiences we had there!More

One of the things that I love about eating lunch in the Netherlands is that it is generally affordable compared to dinner, which can be quite expensive. One of the downsides is that a lot of restaurants have nearly identical menus. So I was pleasantly...surprised when I came across De Wagon on a recent visit to Tilburg. Not only was it charming inside, but the lunch menu was quite different and yet still affordable. I had the ramen soup (without the bacon). It was delicious and a decent size portion with lots of chicken and mushrooms.More

De Wagon is the little sister of De Houtloods. To be honest: I much more appreciate the food of De Wagon. Less pretentious blabla on the menu and more food on your plate. Though the portions are still a bit small, it is much better...than De Houtloods. There is a surprising choice of 3 appetizers, three main courses - also vegetarian, and 3 desserts. With some bread and extra side dish it was enough. Side dishes and wines aren't cheap so as a whole it is rather expensive. The plates look very nice. I had fish with asparagus wich was delicious and a lovely dessert of chocolate mousse. It was a lovely day, so we were seated on the terrace. In the wagon it was bloody hot; wonder how it will be in the winter?!More

An outrageously expensive meal for the amount of food received. I was asked to choose a side to my main course only to find out later that they charged me extra for it. Silverware was never replaced between courses; I ate my meat with a...fork and knife that tasted like the taco sauce I had for starter. On the check they charged me an extra drink that I never had. Overall I am not going back to that place ever again.More
