My husband and I stopped here for breakfast on a hungover, sunny Sunday morning. As it was such lovely weather, we were happy to get a seat on the cosy terrace, which was lovely. We were immediately greeted by the most friendly, helpful waiter. After drinking some coffee, we decided to order breakfast - my husband had the pancakes with fresh fruit and I had the 'granola bowl' with fresh yogurt, granola and a variety of fruit. Everything was super fresh and tasted really good. The service here (although a really busy cafe in a prime location), was very attentive and very quick. For this reason, we relaxed and stayed for another coffee on the cosy terrace, in the sun. Beyond breakfast, this place has a really extensive beer and food menu - we didn't have the opportunity to try this unfortunately but if we come back to Maastricht, this will be on our list!

Perfect Lunch Stop

Nice spot just on the each of the main market area and very close to the shopping streets. Plenty of Terrace space in the summer but inside looked like a great spot for the winter also. Was served by a very delightful local girl with a perfect English Accent. Very helpful. Got served immediately. Our Goats cheese salad and Focaccia Pulled Pork Sandwich were perfect size for lunch. Clearly a popular spot and well recommended.

What a selection of beers, unbelievable ! Luckily the waiter guided me into the right pick. Friendly waiters, perfect view to see the world go by, maximum rubbernecking Fast service and good quality food. When you pick the 300 gram schnitzel you will be rolling out.

Continuing our quest for the best cappuccino in Maastricht, our paths led us to “De Gouverneur” (spelling is slightly awkward innit?). Firstly, the atmosphere, divine. We were glad to find such an exquisite place. A gem in the concrete jungle we call Maastricht. Unfortunately, although the sun and the very comfortable seats reminded me my 12 thousand square foot mansion in Calabasas (my chef’s cappuccino is out of this world, you are all invited), the coffee did not spark the fireworks we expected. We did not feel the butterflies. However, the slightly overturned coffee brought by the waiter was also accompanied by whipped cream, caramel and a biscuit. We truly appreciated the sides. Now, the coffee. Ah, the coffee. It was the perfect average cappuccino experience (we also wanted to give our thumbs up for the distinguished German porcelaine). The payment- flawless. The waiter was amazing, charismatic and humorous. The coffee was standard, the experience was good. Lastly, looking at my 40mm white gold blue dial discontinued edition Daytona, I was reminded of one my favorite quotes by Lao Tzu: « Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication ». Simple, in the best possible way.

Warm environment, very welcomed in a rainy day in Maastricht. The personnel was kind. The food (2 schnitzels, 1 steak and 1 hamburger) was excellent and the beers were great. But we had to wait 1h:20mins for our order to be delivered. After 1 hour wait, while other customers arrived later than us were being served, we asked why our order was so late and we were told that we would have received it within 15 mins. Clearly something went wrong in the ordering process and we recognize that a mistake may happen. However, we expected some additional attentions to compensate their mistake, but just received apologies from the waiter who listened our complaints, while the one who got our order (was him a waiter or the restaurant owner?) did not show any interest in it. Maybe we were just unlucky, but, even if we had very good food, we cannot say the same for customer attention

Perfect lunch and tasty beers!

My wife and I have been twice in 2 days! The food we had was great and you have an infinite choice of beers! I had one homemade ipa and it was super tasty, then I tried another couple of different beers and they were also very nice! The place is cozy, the atmosphere is nice and the staff very friendly and professional. Waiters are also keen to guide you through this infinite beer menu. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have good food with a good beer. We loved it and we will come back for sure if we go again to Mastricht!

In the center of Maastricht, with the view on the street and market, it's like an English pub, what I didn't like was that they don't have vegan milk for coffee, I mean we are in 2023, and for the prices that they have... They charged me for the whipped cream for my hot chocolate, really?? The first time I heard this, from the countries that I visited. The vegan burger was excellent and tasty and also the fish and chips, although they were pretty expensive. Staff was nice , especially one boy who was always smiling and speaking good English.

This is the place to be for extra special specialty beers

Cozy eatery where you should especially go if you like special beers. In addition to the menu with specialty beers, there is even a separate beer menu especially for matured beers. The food is tasty but a bit on the pricey side given the flaws (fries too greasy, too little sauce on the schnitzel). The tables are sometimes quite close together, my neighbor's hair was literally hanging in my food. All in all, I had a great evening here (even though I'm not a beer lover).

I've been to De Gouverneur 3 times to have dinner and several times for drinks. I find this restaurant to be very reliable in food and service. Every time I had dinner the food was always delicious. I really recommend the beef stew. Their fries are always super good too. They have a great selection of beers and the price is pretty good compared to other restaurants in Maastricht. Service is always fast and very friendly! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Cozy place in the center of Maastricht. The choice of specialty beers was very large and the beers tasted good. The food was ok. The burger was nice, the cheesecake a bit less unfortunately. Great diner and drinks with company event!

We enjoyed a great evening at de Gouveneur with our colleagues (30+ people). We had the private dining/bar area all to ourselves which was perfect! There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and eat, to mingle and even dance! We had a lot of different main course options to choose from, so there was something for everyone. The service was quick, efficient and very friendly! Thank you for such an amazing night!

We were a fairly large group, booked in advance and got a more or less separate part of the gelagzaal, all to ourselves and quite cozy. They just ordered from the menu, drinks and a little later light lunch, quite a lot of different things. The welcome was fine, friendly and friendly - very customer-oriented. Fantastic food

In Maastricht for 5 days in July to see Andre Rieu and spent every night at this restaurant it was so good. Would recommend the ribs, chicken satay and chicken wings to name but a few - real great food with a vast selection of beer to choose from and lovely wine - very busy maybe best to book but well worth the wait for a table. Enjoyed our third beer tasting in De Gouverneur. This time in their impressive beer cellar. Tasted interesting beers, where our host explained in detail with a lot of knowledge. The accompanying snacks were delicious, as you would expect from a good eatery. It is also nice that so far we have not received any beer that we had already drunk during our previous tastings. We had such a great meal here. And also the beer menu (beer bible as they call it) was really super extensive. The service could give you excellent explanations about the different types of beer and also the choice on the menu was well explained. The veal balls are highly recommended! Also on the terrace it was wonderful to stay. In short: highly recommended!
