What to say about the
Number one of Maastricht? Great place to have lunch. We were surprised to be able to get a place for lunch on Thursday. And more lucky: on the high table next to the kitchen. Our children (13 and 17) are used to having sometimes quite sophisticated food. But this left them flabbergasted. Beautiful combinations of taste. All laid out in surprising and wonderful settings. Great wines. Service was impeccable and even music was a combination of old and new to their taste. And ours. We have spent from 12.30 to almost 16.00 hrs. being immersed in joy for the tastebuds and other senses. This brigade deserves a star for performing in the über class of restaurant business. We have made a reservation for our next visit right away. Price quality is great if you add all the amuses (sometimes almost courses by themselves). Not cheap but a bargain for the experience. You got it right: we are quite taken by the place and the people who run it. No show, all performance.

They belong to Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe what is usually safe recommendation. Interesting menu although tastes sometimes too much on the sweet side - apparently Dutch preference. But at the end good food, good selection of wine - worth trying. Would be good to have menue i English and/or French as well.

My wife and I had a lovely experience at Rantree. We chose the 4 course menu (no dessert) and each course, amuses included, was very good. So many different flavours! Staff is nic, friendly and professional, a beautiful evening out is guaranteed!! No 1 status on Tripadvisor totally deserved!!

Very friendly waitress who knew everything about the wine, the food... Service was complete! The food tasted like heaven. Quite expensive but definitely worth it.

Another adventure in eating. This time from Maastricht, NL. I was walking around looking for somewhere to have dinner and happened by the Rantree. I looked it up on Trip advisor (shameless plug) and the reviews were pretty positive, so I decided to take a chance. Luckily I was able to be accommodated late into the dinner service.
I sat outside on the warm evening and had an aperitif and several appetizers. The first appetizer was a trio. It consisted of a pickled currant tomato which was rather refreshing. It was both juicy and spicy. The mini tartlet was disappointing as the crust wasn’t thick enough to hold the contents nor handle the moisture of the contents, so it just fell apart. The cheese puff wasn’t much better. It did have a cheesy flavor but was a bit dry and underwhelming.
The second offering was an amuse bouche consisting of an avocado mousse, sweet potato puree topped with toasted quinoa. Texturally this was baby food-ish (not sure if that is a word). The quinoa was supposed to offer a textural contrast but missed the mark.
The second appetizer offering was interesting. It was a salmon tartar with a citrus butter vinaigrette. Interesting combination of flavors, but the butter over powered the citrus, so the acid needed to counter the richness didn’t come through as expected. At least that was my perception of the intention. It wasn’t the best of the night, but not the worst either.
The first of the three-course tasting menu was a Pastrami Carpaccio. It was an interesting combination combined with crème of arugula and black garlic. Only problem was that nothing really stood out either as stand-alone or eaten in combination. Many of the flavors were muted. The wine was a young South African white which didn’t have great legs and no real staying power.
The Coquelet (young rooster) was nice and moist and seasoned well. The garnishes, baby corn and asparagus added a nice contract in texture.
The service was good, but faded as the night went on. Smiles went to disinterest as the night wore on, but they did try to be attentive. I think it had more to do with the 12 top and everything that goes along with that.
So, I’m going to preface this final piece with; I'm not sentimental. The dessert was by far the best dish of the night. A fig bread pudding with vanilla reminded me of baking with my grandmother. Congrats!!!
All in all not a bad experience. I expected a bit more based on the reviews, but everyone has an off night. I might visit here again the next time I'm up north just to see if this experience was a fluke.

The restaurant had very chic interior and friendly service. Food was well worth the reputation and we got two appetizers and one dessert as a bonus. Absolutely a must visit! Very strongly recommended if you're ready to pay a little more than usual.

Nice sunday Morning for 2 persons in Maastricht centrum. and in general we were very satisfied. The service was very good starting from the reservation payment. Could be excellent, apart from a sudden and unexpected change from the waitress, who started speaking instead of English, when a light rain started...

This must be one of the most highly rated restaurants in Maastricht for quality of food with tastes that gently burst into your mouth. The ambiance and service matched the food - surely it must qualify for Michelin status. Congratulation to the team for a wonderful experience prior to our visit to the Andre Rieu concert.

We were a bit late for our reservation because of parking problems in Maastricht, but they kept our place for us.
Very warm welcome and excellent service from the beginning. We decided to go for testing menu which was a good decision.
The food was nicely presented and accompanied with good vines. On top of well presentation it was very delicious. One small remark is on desert which was Ice coffee, although it was very good, I would like to have more intensified tastes of coffee. But this is really a small remark.

On a visit to Maastrict for the Andre Rieu concert I booked Rantree having read reviews on Trp Advisor but nothing prepared us for the culinary delights that were produced by this exceptionally talented chef. Starting with the amuse Boucher and followed by course after course of artist delights that exploded on the palate with an amazing blend of flavours we finished with the petit fours that included a basil flavoured chocolate delight. Having eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world including the Fat Duck, the dinner at Rantree was definitely up there as one of the best meals ever, good luck you definitely deserve a Michelin star.

We were a group of 8 which they handled very well; making us feel at ease, serving us with friendly swiftness and breaking into our conversations discreetly to describe the delectable dishes in front of us. Fantastic taste combinations served as beautiful works of art with great wine all made for a superb evening.

We found this charming little restaurant by chance when we saw in the tourist office that it was number one Tripadvisor restaurant in Maastricht. As it was the last day of our holiday we decided to splash out on the 29 Euro 2-course lunch with 14 Euro wine pairing. It was worth every cent!
Following a tasty amuse-vouch came not one, but two, delightful appetisers. We both chose the lamb Waldorf salad starter, which comprised three small pieces of perfectly cooked lamb, served with a 21st century take on a Waldorf salad, full of flavours too complex to describe.
For the main course we chose veal and duck. These, too, were cooked to perfection and served with exquisitely tasting vegetables. The sauces were poured at the table by our waitress, who left the little jugs for us to top up as necessary.
The wine matching was superb, as was the service. Each course, together with the wines, was carefully explained to us with great charm and a clear love of food.
Even though we decided not to take coffee, much to our delight a beautiful selection of chocolate petit fours was brought to us. We finished our meal as we started - in great style.
Just a word of warning - this is a fine dining experience, not fast food, so be prepared to spend a couple of hours or so having your taste buds pampered!
We just had to meet the Chef afterwards to thank him for such a magnificent experience. Ralph Hermans - go for that Michelin Star - with food, wine and service like this you deserve it!

Booked a table for 12 persons for menu of 3 courses.
Much more than expected was served, all very surprising and of excellent quality.
Wines perfectly paired with the courses.
On top of that very nice service by the team.
Place to remember and turn back to!
