Delicious food. Very creative dishes. We were way too early for the reservation (it was cold on the Vrijthof), and that was no problem at all. Very international audience and staff. Friendly and helpful, they helped us with a small inconvenience.
The food was really good! The croquettes are really tasty and innovative. The pizza with scallops is refreshing, the pork belly melts into your own stomach, wow.
And we were completely shocked when it came to paying: that you can still stay under €100 for the two of us and a few drinks? As if we are abroad. Kudos.

Bistro Croquant is a super cozy restaurant with great food, the atmosphere is quiet but also very cozy and full. The service is top notch, I was moved 3x with the table and she didn't make a big deal of that, they always stayed neat. Also, they were very friendly and quick, the food was all perfectly timed; I didn't have to wait for drinks longer than 3 min, so that's top notch, and the food never arrived too fast or too late. And the food, that was great. There were a lot of crazy combinations on the menu of which you wouldn't think "Yes tasty!" But as soon as you took the first bite it was delicious and "Crispy"

Not for nothing in the top 10 in Maastricht. A very nice restaurant that distinguishes itself from an average restaurant by the quality, the special dishes and the 'share dining' design. We were a group of 8 friends and all 8 especially enjoyed the very tasty dishes. When you think of a bitterbal, don't think of it as an ordinary bitterbal. No, the different types of bitterballen that we were served as a starter were all very special and tasty and very Croquant. I would definitely come back here if I'm in Maastricht again. And compliments for the service. Top restaurant!

We cannot share the enthusiasm for the quality and taste sensation of the many reviews. I'd rather say one time: Top fritter joint!
Completely excessive prices for nicely presented trifles in a chicken coop atmosphere at station hall acoustics.
Food partly very salty - one of 5 white wines was unfortunately already sold out at 7 p.m. - service leaves empty and after 10 minutes waiting already put together plates on the table for another 10 minutes and then expects that you fish out the cutlery again for the next course - really good was the cream cheese to the rather unacceptable bread.
But the absolute highlight was that the table promised to us on Reservation until 20.30 was pulled from under our noses at 20.10.

I'm not much of a review writer, but now I feel like I have to respond to what I read here: I honestly don't understand where this restaurant gets all these fantastic reviews from...
Last weekend I had dinner here with my partner. Admittedly, the welcome was friendly. Although we had not made a reservation, due to our early arrival we still got a table until half past 8. The dinner seemed to start well, but went steeply downhill from there.
As an aperitif I chose a vermouth. It was poured quite sparingly (max. 1 cm), as if it were a digestif (whiskey, cognac, ...).
However, we didn't complain about this and ordered the first course. It came quickly, but was nothing special. Indeed, lots of fried food and croquettes - that was of course to be expected with such a name.
After this, the staff left our table for 45 minutes, even though we soon ran out of food or drinks. Proactively inquiring whether we could use anything and whether we were ready for the next course would certainly have been welcome.
Meanwhile, the restaurant started to fill up and became a particularly noisy place. The tables are very close together, which makes it difficult to have a conversation.
Extra help and the service and the kitchen also came with a lot of fuss. To my great consternation, these employees turned out not to speak a word of Dutch!!! Now I speak quite a bit of English, so that is not the problem, but from a customer focus point of view I found this extremely annoying. It is not that catering staff need to be able to deliver a passionate speech in Dutch, but 'please' and 'thank you' are quickly learned, right? Now it turned out that as Dutch speakers we had to adapt to the language of the staff. I fully realize that there is a major shortage of catering staff, but this is not very nice.
While the service started to become more and more chaotic (the English-speaking students behind the bar started shouting loudly to each other which 'croquet' should go to which 'table') and mistakes started to pile up between them, we eventually let them go. start a second and a third course. These also consisted of - in my opinion - rather banal croquettes and more comfort food (portions of fries, a risotto, ...).
By half past seven this was all starting to sink in like a stone on our stomachs and we kept to the agreement and paid, even though the restaurant was nowhere near full, which makes you wonder why we should absolutely have to pay around half past eight. . The bill was more than EUR 100 for 3 rounds of rather simple and not very creative/ordinary dishes, not served quickly and not even in my own language. In my opinion this was a 'snack bar with pretension', which is certainly not worth all this lyrical acclaim.

Sharing dinner concept with a number of very tasty dishes such as glazed pork belly, meat with Japanese sauce and a number of exclusive tasty croquettes. All equally delicious.
It is different with the quality and price-quality ratio of the wine list; what a shame. charging €7 per glass for a Portuguese white wine that may not exceed €4.5 per bottle; but don't buy this vinegary liquid.
We would like to come back again to enjoy the dishes, but we would rather bring our own wine and pay corkage.

Great atmosphere, creative and delicious cuisine, very specific menu and different from all other establishments. The croquettes (cheese but also has other tastes) are amazing as much as the service. We spent our evening at the bar with our 10-year-old daughter. The waiter allowed her to "play barwoman"!

I was here on December 9 with my parents. The concept is shared dining, a bit of a tapas idea. We really enjoyed the taste sensations and will put this restaurant on our list of favorite places in Maastricht. Given the price and portion ratios, I wouldn't eat here as a student, because you want to try everything on the menu. But if you like new experiences then I would definitely do it!

We came on the recommendation of a friend. The artichoke croquettes were really delicious, the tenderloin salad was excellent, and the pork belly was outstanding. To top it off, the caramel popcorn ice cream was perfectly balanced. While the service had a couple of hiccups, I trust they’ll work things out.

This lovely bistro is in a quiet spot away from the bustle of Maastricht centre and is a little gem. The food is creative, delicious and beautifully presented and served in a relaxed atmosphere by the friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value for money, highly recommended and not to be missed if you’re visiting Maastricht.

We visited Bistro Croquant on our last night in Maastricht. The concept is small plates or tapas, that can be shared. Every dish was delicious! The roasted eggplant and homemade duck sausage with truffle sauce were highlights for us. The service was exceptional with an attentive host and enthusiastic explanations with each dish. Highly recommend spending an evening at Bistro Croquant!

We had a wonderful meal at Bistro Croquant. Host Roland was super cozy and welcoming at the bar.
The home made Dutch shrimp croquettes were packed with shrimp in a beautiful roux. The raw scallops on papadum with crème fraiche and wasabi beautifully made. Then we had the truffle risoto, Iberico pork belly and salad with diamond tenderloin. All equally sophisticated.
A super rosé drunk and nice glass of red wine.
Bistro Croquant team: Many thanks for this wonderful evening.

Dishes were delicious and fun to share. Plates, actually rectangular plates, can be a bit larger. Service very friendly, but pay too little attention to empty glasses and bowls. Maybe because we were sitting at the big table. During our evening very rowdy. The pork belly, beef stew and risotto were exquisite, followed by the apple pie croquettes 😋

It’s wonderful! We ordered practically every dish because it was one surprise after another. We started with the meat croquettes (I’ve never had anything like it!), then moved on to the creamy soup. Next came two unforgettable dishes: the roasted eggplant (even though I’m not a vegetarian, I would eat it every day; it was soft and perfectly seasoned) and the pork belly, which I didn’t even have to cut — it just melted with a spoon. To finish, the dessert: ice cream with sea salt, caramelized popcorn, and Ardoino olive oil, simply fantastic. The service was excellent, the food perfect, and the price fair. I would come back many times!
