With just 3-4 waiters, they could multi task and provided good services. From pouring water to taking orders to preparing salad or entrees to even cooking right in front of you - the waiters could do it all. We ordered braised steak, lamb, chicken etc...and they were all good. Special mention to their spaghetti as it is so delicious! We loved the ambience too! Highly recommended.More

The food was simply fantastic. The steaks were cooked in front of you and it was entertainment. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The wine was lovely too! There is a bar joined to the restaurant and there was plenty of atmosphere in the...venue! Seemed pricey, but it was true first time eating out in Zurich!More

We were a party of 4 first time dining at the LA BOTTEGA DI MARIO (the restaurant is suited for couples and larger parties equally). If you like Italian food but are sick of your same-old-same-old place the Bottega is not only a match but...a better choice. It offers Tessin cuisine on a changing menu. The ingredients are fresh, homemade and original Tessin, the interior with a rustic charme filled with salami and prosciutto like a charcuterie. I recommend the BRASATO DI MANZO (who has 18 hours to prepare it at home) and the ZABAIONE for dessert. For fish lovers there is fresh catch of the day. SInce our first visit I have been back to get something different from the menu. And if you are up for a drink go across the foyer to the CARLTON BAR.More

We were a group of 15 people. We got a great suggestion for a 3-course menu in advance, at the last moment in the restaurant, we needed a veg menu, which was immediately implemented. Absolute fabulous Thanks

Being part of the Carlton hotel in the heart of Zürich, La Bottega di Mario obviously comes with a hefty price tag but worth it for a rare experience. They serve really lovely plates of cold cuts and cheeses and in a much appreciated way,...even do it for one person. Unfortunately that cannot be said for their zabaione, the only missing item in an otherwise very memorable meal. Their specialty, the Ticinese risotto with sausage and cheese from the region is super tasty, a great choice for a main dish. The house Merlot is a decent choice by the glass but obviously an amazing array of wines is offered by the bottle.More

Expected a cosy wine bar with traditional food and didn't know Bottega Mario belongs to "hip" Bar Carlton. Lots of filled lips and tired bankers. The waiter was unfriendly and totally unmotivated – probably because he had to handle all the work! Nevertheless it ruined...our evening. Management should react immediately and hire more service staff. We had artichoke salad (21 CHF) and mixed salad (13 CHF) The Tagliata steak was great quality but costs more than 50 CHF. For side dish you pay extra! Each glass of wine around 10 CHF. So you don't order a second or third one – but you were not asked for it anyway. We waited at least 15 minutes for an espresso, which came with no apology but of course was on the overpriced bill. In my opinion this has just no style. Based on my experience I would not recommend Bottega Mario.More

Been here for a work dinner and I have to say that the ambience is fantastic. It was very well thought of and it gives a warm feeling, defintely the place has a great rustic yet professional character. The cooked food was just about average....The first plate, although claiming that its a tajarin with truffles, the truffle shaves were so few and thin, that I didn't even taste the truffles. The second place, beef, was not particularly tasty, and the vanilla dessert didnt taste of any vanilla. Strange, right? The wine selection was vast and wines we ordered tasted good. The service was very good, prompt and attentive. All in all, given that the food was just about average, I would say that considering what you get, I consider it expensive. If food was up to the expectation, I would not have minded to pay such money.More

La Bottega di Mario is a wonderful restaurant just of Bahnhofstrasse in Zürich. It represents the italian part of Swizerland to perfection. The settings aer very cosy, Swiss and with lots of emotional element such as a wall full with hanging Ham, Salami, Mortadella and...all the wonderful cuts Italy has to offer. The restaurant is urban, caters to all social members. It offers a very attractive Italian menu and a most astonishing wine list, with consumer friendly pricing. The service is curteous and friendly. One has to reserve well in advance to get a table.More

Excellent restaurant, perfect location, a stone's throw from our hotel and the city center; menu with many proposals and all excellent; good service, in Italian, even if a little slow, perhaps due to the fact that the restaurant depends on the kitchen of the nearby...Carlton. The bill is always high, but this is the Swiss for us Italians. Recommended.More

Great location in the heart of Zurich. Very nice cozy interior. Very friendly and smiling staff, they have a level of friendliness which is really unusual, very much appreciated. Very good food. The choice is limited, they focus on small plates but all of them...are excellent. I tried beef tartare, prosciutto crudo, Vitello Tonnato- all dishes were excellent, both quality and taste. Very good Tiramisu. Extensive wine list, excellent choice. The sommelier did a great job and recommended a wine I did not know before and was excellent. I was extremely happy and will definitely come back!More
