Our first stop when we arrived in Zurich's Old Town was a visit to "1842 Cafe & Confiserie" for coffee and cake. The interior of the cafe is amazing, lavish decor, flowers everywhere and counters loaded with the most amazing looking pastries and cakes. The...vintage cash register was amazing too, and the staff were very finely attired in their uniforms. We sat outside and watched the world go by with an Iced Latte and a piece of cake and it was fabulous. Prices are a little expensive 30CHF (£26) for two Latte's and two pieces of cake, but it was delicious.More

Very small selection of cakes. I chose the chestnut cake, it tasted like it was very old, it smelled bad. The chocolate drink I ordered was also quit bad. When the waitress came to ask me if w everything is ok, I told her about...the cake and she made a sad face and sound, shame on you, I expected so much more from a place with this reputation.More

We were informed to wait by a sign board. Ã Waiter after three minutes asked us to follow him! A waitress came and ordered us to go Back and wait. Just for thé records there were available tables already ready! Her tone was sacartisc and...rude and made this amazing place experience unworthy! It is a Shame!More

This delightful restaurant was recommended by a friend and I am so glad that I followed up on her recommendation. I was fortunate to visit during summer so I could dine on the terrace. I opted for a lemon tattered and black tea; perfect for...a hot afternoon. The rare was deliciously lemony. The tea came in a well used teapot which kept the tea very hot. The staff are friendly and do not display an attitude (I can just about tolerate serving you) which is common in popular Nt American restaurants. I didn’t try the hot chocolate or apple strudel, because these are my daughters favourites and I will way unto she can join me. I will return to this charming cafe when I return to Zurück.More

A quick, early morning visit to check out the Red Room again. I arrived early so I had a choice of seating. The staff was friendly upon entering. Kevin took my order and recognized me from my previous visit. I‘m sure he will remember our...interesting discussion concerning the cheesecake and Russian cake. I enjoy chatting with him on my visits. I enjoyed my soy milk (lactose-free, hazelnut milk also available) hot chocolate and cheesecake. I always look forward to visiting my favorite room in the city after a long absence.More

I know this place for many years. It used to be one of the best coffee shops in Zürich with fantastic cakes etc. now it has changed a lot. The decor is still very nice. But unfortunately the quality of the products has dropped significantly....The cake I had was really not good, no taste and very dry. The hot chocolate was good. Service was not very attentive and a bit too casual for such a nice place. Please note that despite Covid the distance between guests is very limited so you might not feel very comfortable. Definitely a pity it has not the same quality level anymore. Hopefully one day they will improve the quality.More

This cafe has been here for almost two centuries and its retained its old world charm with all the modern amenities! There is so much demand for tables here that a half an hour wait in a queue is quite normal. We were 7 of...us and got a table on the second floor and till then, amused ourselves with admiring the beautiful Christmas confectionery there!More

The best hot chocolate that I had in Zurich! In this cafe, you can find a cosi place to stop and have tasteful and interesting flavors. I recommending for sure. Once you will be there, one thing is sure that you never regretted!

Old and Classic Place We walk in for late BF. Wait for queue a while. Then we go to second floor and order for Double Espresso and Bubble Ginger. We got valuable Time here..

Tourist trap. I ordered an apple strudel and it comes microwaved (I confirmed with the waitress). Soaked dough and very blend in flavor. Doesn’t recommend.

We enjoyed hot chocolates (with cream), an apple strudel and a flammkuche... Really enjoyed the decoration, hot chocolates and the desert. The flammkuche was a bit dry. Staff were very helpful! We will be back!

We stopped at our favourite café for their excellent, large breakfast of muesli, gipfeli, bread, bread roll, butter, jams, orange juice and coffee. A lovely place to relax and people watch after the morning’s exercise! Friendly service and a great terrace. Highly recommend.
