If you want to eat a good piece of meat this is the place to be!
You need to know it to find it! It happened to be 5min from our hotel so was perfect!
The menu card is limited (entrecôte, filet de boeuf, brasier and steak tartare) and prices are in the middle to high end but the quality is there.
It was almost full on a Tuesday night and the staff was working hard (but lacking a smile from time to time). Nevertheless helpful and pleasant when serving us.

Very close to the Palais de Beaulieu in Lausanne, very good restaurant whose quality of food remains constant and value for money as well. Lovers of good beef should not refrain. The staff is smiling, competent and concerned about the customer's well-being, rare attitudes these days. In season, a pretty shaded and welcoming terrace is a plus. Check out the food menu on the restaurant’s website and know that you won’t salivate in vain.

This was recommended to us and my goodness it was worth it, definitely a locals restaurant but that’s part of the experience! The service was fantastic and the food was exceptional. We have had steak tartare before but not as good as this, it was exceptional and very reasonably priced too, cannot recommend enough 😊

Excellent fries and very good meat (even if a little less than in the past I have the impression...). Pleasant atmosphere but I really regret that the restaurant has been offering two services in one evening for several years. Table reserved at 6:30-7 p.m. and we feel pressed for time throughout the service. Service almost "too fast", no time to enjoy a glass of aperitif, the dishes are already arriving. No time to choose desserts, the waiter pretends to take away the menu even though we simply haven't chosen yet. We must remember it to have time to choose quietly. I really miss the days when it was possible to book at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. or 8 p.m. and have a pleasant evening without having to stress about finishing quickly. If we come to the restaurant, it is not only to eat and leave as quickly as possible but also to relax, take time and have a good time! Too bad for this address which was a reference for a long time in Lausanne!

I had one of my worst experiences here. Spent too much money on delicious food and ate far too much. After a delicious caprese salad and the best beef tartar I have had so far, I was tricked into spooning left over steak sauce onto my rösti. No one stopped me, I felt ashamed of myself. And to top it off, due to the excellent food I've received, I felt forced to order a dessert, fearing I might miss out otherwise. you may think this is a one off and nothing that should be complained about - but this happens every time we come here. see you in 2025!

It is no longer the renowned and quality Petit Boeuf of the time since a new boss manages this place.
Poor service, fries or röstis too grilled and oily, normal meat that can be found everywhere but much less expensive. I do not recommend this place which no longer has anything to do with the quality we experienced before. In short, a small, uninteresting bistro, move on.

I've been hearing about it for years, this time it's done.
And we were not disappointed.
Bone marrow and lobster bisque as a starter, I didn't notice that there was a salad with the Beef Brasier. Particularly tender meat, 3 very good sauces and some fries.
So no desserts because there is no more room in our stomachs.
With a very pleasant and attentive welcome and service, it was a very nice moment.
And as the weather was nice, we took advantage of the terrace.

Great restaurant located near the Palais de Beaulieu ! There is a terrace during the summer!
The specialities is red meet ! We selected the “Brasier” of beef with homemade fried and 3 sauces ! Quiet impressive machine 😀
The place looks like a brewery ! Service is nice ! Excellent time and food ! Highly recommended

This is a specialist restaurant in Lausanne famed for their steak tartare and Argentinian sourced steaks. I went there about 10 years ago and had the best steak in Switzerland (which isn't difficult to be fair).
All restaurants had to close on 4th November and yesterday (10th December) was their first night opening in over a month. It was my birthday on 9th December, so I made an online reservation, advising it was my birthday and could we please have a "intimate table" in the quiet part of the restaurant.
They didn't not acknowledge my booking (I had to do it via email), so had to call to confirm and again stressed that it was my birthday and could we have a "cosy corner".
When we arrived we were shown to a table next to the door, beneath a freezing air-con unit. We asked to move, but there were no other tables available.
The waitress came to take our drinks order, my partner ordered a red wine (for himself) and she just walked away!! She came back with the red wine and poured it into his glass first, then into mine (ladies first?).
I explained that I wanted a white wine (in French) and she looked at me like I had insulted her! She then poured the red wine out of my glass straight into my partners glass, took away the very nice wine glass and came back with my white wine in a horrible, tiny, wine glass that had the name of some other restaurant on the glass!
We ordered, me the steak (most expensive one on the menu) which came with frites and unspecified vegetables, my partner the steak tartare which came with just frites. The maitre d' prepared the tartare at the table with much flair and put it in front of my partner.
My steak arrived, which the waitress cut up for me (very odd!) and put on my plate. She also delivered a plate of frites and pale non-descript vegetables on a large plate, over a candle-burner (the thing they use to keep food warm except she didn't light the candles). But instead of leaving me to help myself to frites and vegetables, she just piled the whole lot on my plate, on top of my steak!
She then disappeared and we had several attempts at trying to get my partners frites. By the time they arrived, the air-con had blasted enough air on my meal to render it stone cold.
On biting into the (luke warm) steak, every single piece had a piece of grissle in it, the frites were completely cold and the uninteresting vegetables not worth eating.
Another waitress came and took the plates away without even asking if everything was ok. I had left more than half of my meal on the plate, a) as it was not edible and b) in the hope that she might ask if everything was okay.
We were offered desert, but by this time I was sitting with my coat and scarf on because I was SO cold, so my partner asked for the bill. I then called over the manager and asked him if I could have a word.
His reply? "No, I don't speak English". Really - this is the centre of Lausanne which has a massive expat/multi-lingual population. I speak French but not enough to complain, so my partner made an attempt to explain and all he could say, to every complaint was, "you should have said at the time"! My partner also explained that it was a special meal to celebrate my birthday and the manager just turned to me and said a VERY sarcastic "Bonne Anniversaire" and walked away!
One of the nicer waitresses came over (we had been given the bill by this time) and asked if we would like a complimentary liquor and suggested a Limoncello, which we accepted.
The icing on the cake came in the form of a luke warm Limoncello (which should only be served ice-cold) in a very strange shaped glass and was no more than one mouthful!
The bill was over CHF120.00 which my partner paid as it was (supposed) to be my birthday treat.
It's not the smartest of restaurants, more of a Brasserie, but their reputation hangs on their "Beouf" specialities - hence the name. But they couldn't even get that right.
A freezing cold restaurant, no attention to detail from the kitchen, sloppy waitress service and a manager who doesn't care. We will never go back.

My second visit to Petit Boeuf and I was not disappointed. Staff are very friendly and attentive and the food is beautiful. Definitely try the Argentinian fillet steak. It’s well out of the centre and a good walk, but definitely worth walking too. Maybe make a reservation, I came on a Tuesday evening and it’s full!

This unassuming little restaurant was a super pleasant surprise with their huge meat portions, good wine selection and effectiveness of serving thirty plus people. Very highly recommended for all meat lovers in Lausanne and the experience is enhanced by the fact that you prepare your own meat.

For the non herbivores among us: what a prime quality beef, prime quality wines, super sauces, good service: a bit rough around the edges, but the sheer quality of the food more than makes up for that: a meat lovers’ dream!!

Nice restaurant. Service was quite rude and too hurry. I've had best entrecote steak ever what helped to like this place a lot. What was suprise for us is price. Most expensive restaurant at our trip.

In Lausanne for one night on business on my own and recommended to try this restaurant. Great vibe and atmosphere, fantastic food, and a real sense that the restaurant staff care about their customers. A real local’s steak house, friendly and intimate, not trendy.... but great value for money and fantastic food and service.
NB - Be careful though if you don't speak good or any French - the waiter’s advice on a full bodied red wine to accompany the steak was met with a light fruity red!!
If I'm ever back in Lausanne, I’ll be returning👍
