We ordered crispy duck in spicy sauce and mapo tofu. The duck was very crispy though I can't find it spicy. The mapo tofu was great as well.

Dear Nattinee P, thank you for your nice critic... Spicy does not mean the same for everybody....so we have to keep it eatable spicy for most of the people... If you asked, we would have made a more spicy sauce especially for you though... More

In general, Food is considerably good. A little pricy ( I guess in general food is expensive in zermatt ) we ordered fried egg, sweet and sour chicken, tofu, chicken steak, and 3 x bowls of seaweed soup Cost us 143 Fran. ( 5 of us ) particularly Not very fancy to the tap water which charge us 5 franc... More

Sorry for your disappointment... yes, if not everybody on the table is having another drink, we will charge for a jug of tap water (1 litre) 5 sfr. Actually most of the restaurants in Zermatt will charge you or don't even serve it. In terms of our prices, I can assure you, that between all the asian restaurants in Zermatt... More

We come from Shanghai and live in Hong Kong, so from time to time we need a break from Swiss Alpine food. We were very surprised to find a restaurant in Zermatt which was literally next to our Hotel Alex in Zermatt. We first had a small lunch at the restaurant and we were not happy with the minimum order... More

Dear Jia H, thanks for your good critics to our restaurant. As we have have a small restaurant with only 15 tables, we expect of all customers to spend minimum 25 sfr...please understand, we have to do that to have enough tables for guests who like to spend some money on good food to stay in business... The waitress is very helpful and check on us frequently to ensure we are comfortable. The food we ordered (fish, vegetables and beef) were too oily and salty. Perhaps it is their style of cooking which we were not used to.

Food is excellent. I live in Hong Kong so i know what is good Chinese food. I took spicy sour soup and spicy diced chicken in brown sauce - both were excellent. I tried a few Chinese restaurants in Switzerland and this is the one i enjoyed most. Place is also nice and quiet. Service excellent and fast.

My husband and I have eaten at Chinese restaurants all over Europe, but this was undoubtedly the worst experience we have had. As we are not big eaters and taking into consideration the exorbitant prices in Switzerland, we ordered a fried rice with egg and vegetables and a chicken gong bao. After a while the waiter returned and told us... More

Dear Phiroza304554, yes, we expect our customers to consume minimum 25 sfr per person. As we are a small restaurant we do only give away tables to guests that are willing to consume...we need to do that to stay in business..we are not a snack place. The portions are not huge, as the concept is to eat more than one... More

My husband and I wanted a vegetarian meal and found that this can be a tough order in Zermatt. Unless of course you want a cheese fondue or raclette which - to us - seemed rather out of place in the 25 °C August heat. We order rice and two vegetable dishes: aspargus with cachew and tofu with leeks. The... More

One of the most appalling experiences ever experienced. The staff had a very abrasive and rude attitude and refused to serve us till we did not commit to a minimum billing amount. We were a group of 10 and were ok with the cover charge but the attitude and approach turned us off and exit the place.

DieFee77, Manager at China Garden, responded to this review

Dear dabysandhu, I'm sorry you didn't get to eat in our restaurant, but yes, we do expect our guests to spend a minimum of 25 SFR per person, which is not much if you consider, that the cheapest main starts at 26 SFR. Even for a vegetarian having one dish per person, a side dish and a drink, it is... More

The restaurant refused to serve us until we agreed to a minimum billing of CHF 25 per person. We were a group of 10 and would have easily managed billing much more than CHF 225 but we decided to walk out because of the pathetic attitude and approach to customer service.

DieFee77, Manager at China Garden, responded to this review

Dear Sarabjit H, as I already tried to explain to your friends, we expect our guests to expect a minimum of 25 SFr. Yes, until this limit is not reached, we do not start serving. Due to a lot of negative experiences we make with guests who tell us, they will order more later...which they don't. As I said, we... More

We had a great evening in this location. The food is excellent and really close to original Chinese taste. As starter Chinese Ravioli (The stuff mentioned it will take about 10min until they are done, no problem we had time :-)) ) As main dishes we had spicy chicken very delicious, liver mhmhmh my favorite, pork and vegetable all very...
