We stopped for lunch on the way down from the mountain. From the Fury station it is a short walk down to the restaurant. We had the mushroom soup with puff pastry, the rosti with chanterelles and a tasty salad. For dessert the black cerry ice cream over chesnut was a delight. We so enjoyed our meal.

Owned by a descendant of the the Taugwalder family, the first climbers up the matterhorn back in the 1850's, they certeinly did not loose the touch to welcome guests. If you walk down from Fury to Zermatt (or ski down in winter), make sure to stop at this lovely mountain restaurant. It has everything for the tired hiker, a cosy... More

The team at Blatten did a fantastic hosting a lunch for 20+ people for my husband's birthday. Food and service was wonderful and the location was just amazing, the beautiful hanging baskets and sunny terrace were at their best. We had excellent röstii, beef and local wines, just as well we walked up via Zmutt! A really lovely experience. Thank... More

There's only one way to get here and back from here and that's on foot. It is worth the walk. The service and food are exemplary. You can walk up from Zermatt or down from Furi and take I the gorge either way. Well worth a visit. We went twice!!

My husband and I first hiked to Blatten from Zermatt in the winter 17 years ago. After trudging through the snow, we arrived at this small chalet restaurant and immediately ordered their mushroom soup en croute to warm up from the cold. And what a perfectly blissful time we had. The soup was the best we had ever tasted, and... More

We were trekking and suddenly we saw some orange chairs... It was hot and we decided to buy a bottle of water but once we arrived closer the place was so lovely that we did not resist and decided to have lunch there. So good decision!! The rosti was amazing and the the apple strudel one of the bests we... More

We stumbled on this great find by accident. We were just out for a hike and got very thirsty. My husband said we would never find anything near here but 10 seconds later I spotted the restaurant. We were only going to have a drink but the atmosphere and menu looked so good we stayed for dinner and desert. I... More

Blatten has always been a destination for us since our first visit in 1988 hiking with a child of 1.7 years in both winter and usually summer. This year we visited twice - once mid morning for lattes and Aprikösenkuchen with lunch planned at another unnamed on hill restaurant and on another day for a full lunch. The family lives... More

I give this restaurant 5 stars. Seldom for me, because that means everything was perfect. At Bergrestaurant Blatten it just about was. We had just done the gorge adventure with the Zermatt Alpin Center and coming out of this harrowing yet brilliant experience we were hungry and thirsty. Lo and behold as we re-entered civilization was the Bergrestaurant Blatten. We... More

As an alpine restaurant, Blatten exists since the beginnings of tourism in Zermatt and it has kept its traditional appearance. Initially, around 1850, it was a little teahouse run by the family. Since the early 1950s, the mother Ludowika has been the hostess of the place for decades. The Taugwalder family has a tradition of both gastronomy and mountain climbing. Indeed, Leander himself met his wife Simone on the top of the Matherhorn. Since more than 30 years, we, Leander and Simone, run this place with passion. The young generation, our daughter Sarah with her husband Hans, assist us actively. - Restaurant on two levels - First floor seats up to 43, second floor 47 - Terrace with 140 seats - Winter season from December to April - Summer season from June to October - Warm kitchen every day from 11:30am to 5pm - House owned organic herb garden - On the path: Ricola herb garden and Gornergorge (during summer season) - During winter season every Wednesday Fondue evenings. Reservations necessary.
