We went to Blatten walking from Zermatt (about twenty minutes). Blatten is a nice little village on the road (close to the ski run) from Furi to Zermatt. In one of the old tradizional wood cottage there is the Berg, wich offers tradional swiss plates of excellent quality at a reasonable prices (considering Zermatt standard). The lamb was amazing as... We walked from Zermatt to Blatten, took us 20 min leisurely and we loved the view and the food. WE had excellent fondu, great homemade rosti, very good risotto and fantastic lamb chops. Also the rosti with sausage was great , the best swiss sausage we had as all the rest were like very expensive hot dogs and very processed.... More

Sunny terrace on a good day. Staff were super friendly and helpful, very professional. Prices really reasonable in comparison to other mountain restaurans, maybe because it is a bit lower down on the slopes and does not have the same views as the others, but surroundings still nice. Potato rosti with egg was delicious. Cheese fondue also good.

Staff were very accommodating service excellent food better still. The owner works the crowd inside and out and makes everyone very welcome. You need to make a reservation particularly high season half term. Pre drinks on sun terrace next door a must on a sunny day. I can not recommend enough. Also consider trying Zum Zee just before a little... More

Beautifully located on the slopes, in the midst of centuries old stables and little farm houses. Fabulous local food. Accessible on foot from the village via a 20 min scenic path (partially) thru the forest. The mid-week chinese fondue (evening) is culinairy heaven.

Consistently one of the best alpine restaurants. Fabulous cuisine, delightful welcoming family and staff (nothing too much trouble) - lamb and apple fritters finished off with a Gili Gili.

A return visit for lunch to a cosy restaurant that serves quality although expensive food. The mushroom soup with a pastry cover was delicious and filling. Probably should have not gone for the lamb and bacon in puff pastry but served with the rosti it lasted me the erst of the day!

We went with a party of 16 and celebrate Sylvester dinner at Blatten. Not that the warm and friendly welcome of the owners is exceptional but also the quality of the menus. The lobster bisque was gorgeous. And the veal on the point. It is always astonishing what the Blatten team is producing in the small kitchen. That the quality... More

We got off the "Furi" gondola and walked 15 minutes down the mountain to find this jewel. Staff at our hotel recommended us to go eat there and it was totally worth it. The views are spectacular, the service was great the mushroom soup is to die for.

For more then 20 years we have our winter Holliday in zermatt. Wat we always do is having lunch and diner at Bergrestaurant Blatten. The restaurant is run by the family Taugwalder (there ancesters belonged to the first group to climb the Matterhorn). Leander and daughter Sarah (of course the rest of the family/team) know to cook fabolous delicious dishes... More

Description
As an alpine restaurant, Blatten exists since the beginnings of tourism in Zermatt and it has kept its traditional appearance. Initially, around 1850, it was a little teahouse run by the family. Since the early 1950s, the mother Ludowika has been the hostess of the place for decades. The Taugwalder family has a tradition of both gastronomy and mountain climbing. Indeed, Leander himself met his wife Simone on the top of the Matherhorn. Since more than 30 years, we, Leander and Simone, run this place with passion. The young generation, our daughter Sarah with her husband Hans, assist us actively. - Restaurant on two levels - First floor seats up to 43, second floor 47 - Terrace with 140 seats - Winter season from December to April - Summer season from June to October - Warm kitchen every day from 11:30am to 5pm - House owned organic herb garden - On the path: Ricola herb garden and Gornergorge (during summer season) - During winter season every Wednesday Fondue evenings. Reservations necessary.
