My husband, two kids (11 and 12) and I had a wonderful meal at La Tinera in Lugano. The restauarant is located in a traditionally decorated sub-terranean space and serves regional, i.e. from the Ticino region, specialities, such as risotto, polenta with mushrooms or ossobuco, as well as a variety of other pasta and meat dishes. My son had two... More

Excellent Southern Switzerland food made by non-Swiss cooks. An example of integration and appreciation of the local tradition. Thank you, I'll be back.

We had a very good dinner here. We were early in the evening, and the first guests. On the menu there is much to choose from. All traditional Italian/Swiss dishes. We had tomatoes and Mozzarella and spaghetti with garlic as starters. Which were both good. For the main course we had veal liver with risotto and Filetto de cavallo with... More

Is not only about the food ( which is really tasty, local, incredible), is about the service. The owners are super friendly, kind and warm, they speak multiple languages and they are willing to explain you everything. I definitely will come back to this place. And the wine is really good!!

I wasn't really prepared to spend 30 euros for a meal or eat at a fast food so I used trip advisor to look for the cheapest restos around. La Tirena was the nearest on the list so there I went. It was a cozy restaurant with a good selection of Italian food. Everything was over 20 euros so I... More

This is the third time we have visited this typical Italian Swiss restaurant in four years. Always had a very enjoyable meal and service was excellent on every occasion. Love drinking wine out of pocolinos! Strongly recommend.

Rick Steve's tour book highly recommended La Tinera. When we entered, the place was packed! But there were two empty seats at a table of four where another couple was already seated and eating. We sat with them and struck up a conversation. They were Swiss visiting the town where the husband had been with his family decades prior. He... More

This typical restaurant in situated in a basement. It is close to the main square with all the terraces. The entrance is a little hidden and maybe not really good looking, but the restaurant is very good and has a very good price/quality for Swiss standards. Very friendly service.
