Hidden in the forest on the side of Monte San Salvatore, but easily accessible from the Via Carona, this Grotto gives you a true flavour of the traditional Ticinese cuisine. Try any of the main course with polenta. We tested the one with Veal Osso Bucco, a real delight. And the kids got a kid-sized portion of polenta with brasato.... More

Enjoyed a dinner with four at this quaint Grotto in the hills of Lugano. I was visiting with my boyfriend and his mom who grew up in Lugano. Everyone thought the formaggino was the best ever tasted in Lugano. The Paella was the best I've ever had before! I shared some bites of rabbit and beef, and the meal was... More

Great atmosphere of an old tavern, always full, make sure you book in advance. Food is simple but really good, and the whole evening is experience rather than just a dinner.

This is by far my favorite place in Lugano when it comes to local and authentic food. The whole place is an experience in itself: at the feet of one of Lugano's iconic mountains, the owner comes to greet everyone in this small and rustically decorated place. Don't miss out "La Morchinada" which includes a generous amount of multiple local... More

Local ticinese food. I had ravioli with asparagus and polenta with sausage, was delicious. Pleasant wine, recommend trying grappa after dinner.

Good food and excellent service. Menu changes according to the season. Particularly good in the hot summer evenings when you can dine outside in the shade. Food on the grill in the summer especially good. Venison in the Autumn not to be missed. Well worth a visit, but do reserve a table so as not to be disappointed.

This discovery was a gift! It was exceptionally fine! The personal is very friendly and the food is amazing... In conclusion : exceptional food for price. In my case I paid 49 chf / per person for antipasto + 3 main dishes + desert / coffee (see pictures, proportions for 2).

A place from the good old days: we went there on our way back from Italy. It's a nicely hidden place. The menu is relatively small and simple but of great quality. The chef is very friendly and he offers a great service. We found the place through our important travel companion in Italy and Ticino: the Slow Food Guide.

Excellent country-style food and warm owners. Small off the beaten path location visited by obviously locals who know the place well. The chatter is boisterous and you feel a part of a family. Reasonably priced for large portions. A 5-min taxi ride from the lake.

Terrific uncomplicAted but typical Grotto lunch. Can recommend the charcoal grilled collio di vitello. Might want to call Ahead and stick to lunch time to arrive between 12:00-13:00. bon apetit
