Cosy tranquil atmosphere and delicious food.

We ate here once, but were very satisfied with the dish. Because plates are of good size, the waiter advised a combination of a lamb fillet with rosty-spinach-egg side dish and four season vegetables side dish, all served together.

The decor reminded me of Bavaria. Our service and meals where excellent and the price, 75 CHF, was reasonable (for The Alps). We had 1/2 a carafe of white wine and ordered from that Day's menu: Chicken breast with an orange, mushroom sauce, long grain rice and broccoli with sliced, carmelized almonds & Pork medallions with a brown mushroom sauce... The ambiance at La Grotte is what you want in an alpine restaurant. There are two rooms-- one looks very cabin-y while the other has stone walls and feels rustic. Service was interesting. One waiter was very friendly and happy while the other seemed very matter-of-fact, but they were both quick and readily available. I had rosti, a local dish,... More

Stopped in here on a late afternoon right at the start of dinner hours. The dinner, service and bier were are excellent. Atmosphere was cozy and fun, even as the dining area filled up. One waiter brought us extra Rosti potatoes, as they are apparently served family style. A definite repeater if we make it back to Murren.

We visited this restaurant for dinner on our last night in Mürren and had a lovely dinner. They have a little sign out front saying they are recommended by Rick Steves and my boyfriend is a fan so we had to try it. The Swiss fondue was delicious, although I wish it was served with more than just bread. We... More

We wanted some fondue before we left Switzerland, so we stopped in here after hiking down from Schilthorn. Unfortunately we misread the menu before we grabbed a seat and the fondue was more than we had anticipated. The cheese and bread only fondue appetizer was ~$24, but the full meal fondue with meat and other dipping food was something like... More

My husband and I dined here last night based on the great reviews and recos. We got the fondue, grilled chicken dish with cranberry mousse, and the veal. The grilled chicken was fantastic and cooked perfectly, the other items were ok - fondue was as good as anywhere else, we had better veal the night before at Hotel Eiger. When... More

My father and I ate here due to the Trip Advisor recommendation and were not let down. Of all the meals we had in the area, this was undoubtably the best. The service was exceptional, as was in particular the lamb which we learned was from New Zealand (long way from the Swiss Alps but the best you can get!)... More

We stayed five nights, ate here twice. It was by far the best... Food quality, staff, prices, ambiance, this place has it all. I would have gone more often but didn't want to spoil the magic! The pasta dishes were especially good, as was the wine.

We were 3 adults and 2 children. On the way down from Schlithorn stopped in Murren to eat smth. And la Grotte looked nice. The quality of food and service was very good. Much above the average level we experience in Switzerland. The steaks which were on the daily offer were super tasty. I recommend!
