Wirtshaus Galliker definitely lived up to the good reviews on Tripadvisor. The place was full of locals and had a great atmosphere. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. We went with a couple of Swiss friends who know what to expect from good local cuisine and they too were impressed. In a country where everything seems expensive to... More

Back in times. What a lovely place with the interior reminding one of a typical Swiss living room in a farm or old city house. And the menus full of local specialities that it's difficult to choose. We did not opt for the more adventurous dishes such as Kalbskopf (veal's head) or Kutteln (tripes). The pot of feu was excellent... More

We were reading a few blogs on finding great Swiss food in Lucerne when we came across a name, unmissably forming part of each of these individual write ups. This was our first introduction to Wirtshaus Galliker. We found it to be just a 5 min bus ride from the place we were staying ( Near the Bus stop: Kasernenplatz).... More

This restaurant, run by the same family for over 150 years was a delight. We sat at long communal tables and had a delicious meal. We ordered the smoked trout appetizer followed by a veal cutlet, Parisienne style. The warm apple strudel was great. The owner sat and chatted with us while we ate our appetizer and we learned a lot... More

We were in Lucerne a few years ago and our hotel recommended Wirtshaus Galliker. Great choice! I had calf's liver and not only was it the best liver I've ever had, it was the best MEAL I have had in over 30 different countries. The service and atmosphere was also outstanding and the owner even sat down and talked with... More

My wife and I ate here following a long day of walking and it was just wonderful. We shared a large Pot au feu. We got some instructions on eating the bone marrow from one of the owners, and also tips on adding the sweet sides to the salty stew. Absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly, the local wine was... More

Eat here if you want a cozy, relaxed atmosphere, traditional Swiss menu with some lighter options, and a price that is not outrageous (for Switzerland). The highlight of my meal was talking with the friendly, fourth-generation owner about the restaurant, Switzerland, and the branch of his family that moved to my home state (PA). I was there in the off... More

We've visited Wirtsthaus Galiker after spending the afternoon at the peak of Mt. Titlis. Reservation took no time, as the host was very welcoming and met us with open arms. Overall, the food was up to the high standard that is usually offered to a tourist in Luzern. The price of main corse ranges from 30 to 40 CHF. I... More

I booked at very short notice for a group of about 15 British visitors for June 7th and was forewarned that they may need to offer us a set menu if more than 15 arrive. In the end 20 people came, but they were most welcoming and still offered us the full a la carte choice with a proviso that... More

This 4th generation family owned restaurant provided the best meal both my husband and I had in Lucerne. I had the pot au few - bone marrow, tongue, sausage n brisket in a stew (which is only available Tues / Thurs / Sat(?)) and it was amazing. Hubs had the veal schnitzel w Rosti, also amazing.
