Wonderful meal, service and location

Wonderful meal and super nice service from a young half greek/half german waiter who spoke perfect french and english!! We highly enjoyed everything and although we waited a little (about 15’ so its more than fine, and to compensate that, we were brought delicious bread and olive oil), the food was totally worth the wait. I am a specialist in greek food and all the products here were excellent! Plus the seating outside right by the river is amazing. Can totally recommend and will come back!

Great Food, but pricy, fantastic staff, great location

The restaurant host was a very playful and enthusiastic individual. He was a showman and made us immediately at ease when we turned up without a reservation at 6:30 pm . He indicated that they are typically booked up solid from around 7:45 so if we would attempt to be gone before then he would have no problem with fitting us in. The food was sumptuous and tasty my wife had a bagged lamb dish for around 49 CHF and I had a lamb shank in a very nice vegetable and mushroom risotto. The meal was prefaced by a plate of crusty bread to have with the delicious olive oil and balsamic vinegar. They had many reasonably priced local wines and spirits but we opted for two fresh mint teas to compliment the lamb. All in all the atmosphere and food created a memorable evening Overall cost was around 111 euros but sitting by the river and listening to buskers playing in the background made for a magical night.

I would really like to show our honest feedback about the dinner that I have with my family on a Monday evening. We were literally impressed by the hospitality that was provided and the quality food that we had. Everything we ordered were not just delicious, was amazing delicious . Moreover the recommended red wine “Paros” was something that you rarely can find in Switzerland. Many thanks to Chris that welcomed us in the nicest way and made sure that our whole dinner experience is an unforgettable experience. Will totally come back and recommend it to everyone that have a chat to pass by Luzern. Is a must try restaurant! Thank you very much to the whole service team and really appreciate that you made our night, a night to remember!

Great food and view but...

The food and the view were great. However the service did not keep up with those. Our waitress was pretty rude to us, we had trouble to understand her English and she got mad about that. We asked for the wine menu and she decided to choose us instead, unfortunately she brought a sweet white wine for myself which i don't like at all. We waited our food for 40 min and we were charged more than what we should have and asked for the receipt which never came.

Food quality and service are amazing we enjoy the food every time..we are missing a lot of basic Greek meze that we would love to be able to enjoy and are not available. Also it's disappointing to order soft drinks ouzo and have to pay 10- for tap water just for one glass..this should not apply for tables that already have spirits and drinks on their order. It's a bit pricy even for Swiss prices.if these little things were changed we would be there every week

A disgraceful place. Instead of ordering the main course, we wanted to order a few starters and taste more dishes. But each of the starters is the size of a main course and we ordered about 7 main courses without knowing it. The waiters did not say in any way that the portions were too big to order in this way and they brought the orders to the table as if they were kidding. As of 21:30, when I asked why it was not possible and healthy for two people to finish a table of this size, and why they didn't warn us, they gave a ridiculous answer like "sometimes there are customers who want that". When we asked them to take back 1-2 plates from the table, they said it was not possible either. I absolutely do not recommend!

Danke sehr für Ihren Besuch, auch wenn es natürlich schade ist, dass aus Ihrer Sicht nicht alles nach Wunsch gelaufen ist. Ich habe mir den Fall nochmals erklären lassen uns auch die Rechnung im System nochmals angeschaut. Sie hatten 6 Meze und zusätzlich ein Pitabrot. Grundsätzlich ist es eigentlich auch schön zu hören, dass wir gute Portionen als Vorspeisen haben. Womöglich haben Sie auch vergessen zu erwähnen, dass wir auch einen Teller (Zucchinikrokketen) auch zurückgenommen haben, obwohl Sie diesen bestellt haben und wir diesen schon vorbereitet haben. Also vielleicht nochmals kurz nachdenken was denn nun passiert ist. Wir haben immer wieder Gäste, die diese Menge zu zweit bestellen oder auch noch mehr. Wir sagen grundsätzlich, dass 5-6 Meze wie zwei gute Hauptgänge sind. Aber nicht jeder hat nun mal den gleichen Appetit. Aus meiner Sicht hätten wir vielleicht noch erwähnen können, dass Sie vielleicht auch nachbestellen können. Wir erklären das Normalerweise in einem Beratungsgespräch. Es tut mir leid, wenn wir dies in Ihrem Fall nicht erwähnt haben. Aber vielleicht möchten Sie auch noch ergänzen, dass wir Sie zuerst am schönen Tisch direkt am Wasser platziert haben. Sie fanden dann aber, dass es dort zu laut ist am rauschenden Fluss. Wir haben Sie praktisch als das Essen aus der Küche kam, noch an einen Tisch an der Wand umplatziert 🤔. Auch bin ich etwas irritiert darüber, dass Sie ja an sich Freude an der Qualität des Essens hatten und das auch so ausgedrückt haben. Auch die Konversation fand höflich und respektvoll statt. Da es ja nicht an der Qualität lag, kommen Sie ja mal vielleicht wieder zu uns. Dann könnte ich dafür einen Meze aufs Haus nehmen. Wetten wir finden dann die exakte Menge die Sie essen können ☺️. Very touristic and unfriendly

Food was ok, but the staff was very unfriendly. We sat down and had a digestif when the waitress came and already told us in a very unfriendly way, how much time we can spend for our dinner before they will give the table to another ones. Seems to be another touristic place in Lucerne. Very sad!

2.50chf for tap water !

Disappointing. Arrived on a busy evening and could not dine outside - no problem for us we were happy to dine inside. The food was average service fine apart from the fact that we had to pay 2.50chf per person for tap water to be served !!! I have lived in Switzerland for 20 years - visited many many restaurants and NEVER been charged for tap water …. rip off

Dear Guests, I am grateful that you have chosen us for your visit, despite your experience at this evening. I am curious what exactly was average with the food, because fortunately we have many happy guests with our homemade based food. Maybe it was a little different in the past. In the meantime, due to the cost structure in Switzerland, it is pretty normal that many restaurants charge a fee for tap water. We often have this experience on our own restaurant visits. We charge a service, less the water itself. On request, lemons, ice and we refill as often as you want. As a simple comparison, perhaps and without being instructive with your experience. You have probably also noticed that in some countries the cutlery or bread is billed, but this is practically not the case in Switzerland. Hopefully we can welcome you back by any chance.

A Goat would cook better, even if it were blind and deaf. Disgrace to all Greeks!

Oh, where do I even begin with this absolute train wreck of a restaurant? Amos in Lucerne, Switzerland, prides itself on being a “Greek” restaurant, but frankly, that’s about as accurate as calling a frozen pizza an authentic Italian meal. Let’s start with the staff, who apparently believe that customer service means ignoring you for as long as possible. We waited a solid fifteen minutes—yes, fifteen—just to get a bottle of wine..a bottle of wine, not cocktails not a glass of a special drink but a BOTTLE OF WINE. I’ve had faster service in a fully packed night club with DJ Steve Aioki on Center stage. And when the drinks finally did arrive, it was as if the staff had taken a crash course in how to be as rude and arrogant as humanly possible. The attitude? Stuck so far up where the sun doesn’t shine that I’m surprised they could even manage to walk around. Filthy! But let’s talk about the food—or whatever this abomination was that they dared to call “Greek cuisine.” After a grueling fifty minutes of waiting, what arrived at our table was an insult to Greek culture and anyone with functioning taste buds. It didn’t even remotely resemble the rich, flavorful dishes you’d expect from a proper Greek restaurant. In fact, it was so bland and uninspired that I had to double-check I wasn’t accidentally eating a cardboard box. And if the awful service and terrible food weren’t enough, the atmosphere was downright toxic. The other guests, who were clearly regulars, thought it appropriate to show their true colors with some good old-fashioned racism. Nothing like a side of ignorance with your overcooked meat, right? Amos is nothing but an overhyped tourist trap, and I wouldn’t wish the experience on my worst enemy. Save your time, money, and sanity, and avoid this pitiful excuse for a restaurant at all costs. This restaurant is an absolute disgrace. Even a goat would cook better, even if it were blind and deaf I have never written a review for bad service in all my years working within the industry but this would hopefully be my last, Shame to all Greeks and their culture.

Wonderful experience!

Definitely go! We were recommended to this place by a local, and we were glad we made a reservation because it was PACKED when we arrived. The decor is beautiful with plants overflowing everywhere, and the food was both delicious and interesting, like our appetizer, a creamy feta and chili pepper dip with pita. Highly recommend!

Best restaurant in Lucerne

When eating out in Lucerne, this is the place to be. The owner is outstandingly dedicated, very helpful and truly listens to feedback and I have the impression that he is always up to date in terms of what is trending. The quality of food (+ the olive oil &vinegar!) is top-notch and there are loads of well-balanced vegetarian options. I would recommend ordering Feta se filo with salad & house dressing, it is incredibly addictive.

The absolute best in Lucerne!

How fortunate we were to have found this place during our stay in Lucerne. We did not have a reservation, but they were able to find us a table. The owner is present, outgoing and engages with his guests. He truly is the epitome of Greek hospitality.! The food is divine, it transported us back to our stay in Greece. Excellent souvlaki, octopus, tzatziki and a starter of Greek olives and artichokes. In a city of restaurants with a high price point, Ammos is an excellent value. We loved it so much that we went back a second time. If you desire a table outside by the river, then an advance reservation may be warranted. Kudos to the owner and staff for an amazing evening!

One of the worst services and meals i’ve had. Waited over 40 minutes to be served, food arrived undercooked and below average. Beautiful spot along the river but well overpriced and not satisfying for what it is. Very disappointed as everywhere else we have been in Luzerne has been wonderful.

Despite the nice atmosphere and Deco. You will pay heaps for tasteless food. More than 30.-CHF for just boiled vegetables with some cheese, without salt. Tasteless chicken. It’s a pity that the food does not reach expectations...
