VOLKSHAUS BASEL was highly rated on Trip Advisor and after a long day of walking around Basel, we wanted a nice place near our Pullman Hotel. This was it! And we are so glad we tried it! Now, let's mention right away that this was not cheap eats; more of a special occasion restaurant. Both of our entrees cost $43... More

We came in late and the kitchen stayed open to cook us our meal. Solid meal, great service and nicely designed. Both of us enjoyed our meal and were thankful for being served late on a weekday evening, there were very few people in the restaurant, but the bar seemed lively.

This is a great bar with very good cocktails and very friendly staff. It's a place to go for pre or post dinner drinks or simply for conversation with friends. Enjoy!

Took some work colleagues here after some late meetings and it went down very well. Place was packed (recommend booking) and had a great atmosphere. Waiting staff were busy but attentive and although the meals took a bit longer than usual, considering how busy there were it was still very good. The veal was excellent and all 3 colleagues was... Great brunch on Saturday morning with nice blues music played live, big choice of savory and sweet food. Family friendly with some animation for children. It is really worth, check the calendar for the second and forth Saturday of the month.

The restaurant is in a lovely old building and easy to find from the #6 tram. We had read the reviews which sounded great and we were not disappointed. We were there on a week night, so while several people had recommended having reservations (which we did), they really were not necessary. There were plenty of available tables. The food... More

I went for dinner with my work colleagues. The food was really fantastic - great presentation, perfect portion sizes and wonderful flavor. Really impressed with this restaurant. Prices were very comparable to what you would find all over Basel. One the best meals I have had in this city. Don't miss this one.

Trendy but charming restaurant with a nice bar. Friendly staff. We had a nice dinner (enough to choose from the menu) and it was very tasty. Nothing spectacular but a nice place to go to

An absolute gem of a restaurant! The ambience was lovely - relaxed and friendly, but private and discreet. The menu was good with a variety of dishes. I chose the steak which was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious, as was the chocolate mousse pudding. The staff were attentive, polite and very helpful. And the location was ideal - in... Volkshaus has been recommended to me a few times so I went with a couple of friends the other weekend. The bouillabaisse and the pommery crust filet was amazing and I highly recommend it. The only negative about my time there was my friends and I felt our waiter was too rehearsed esp with this "hi I'm xxx welcome to... More

Description
The Brasserie of the new Volkshaus Basel was designed by Herzog & de Meuron. Its architecture combines classic brasserie-style elements with special design touches and adheres to the warmth and generosity of a beer hall. The combination of tradition and modernity also defines the range of head chef Benjamin Mohr, who dares to bridge the gap between simplicity and something a bit more special. Simple and tasty lunches but also filets de boeuf or oyster specials seek to meet all culinary desires at the brasserie.

Volkshaus Basel has three main rooms and associated foyers. According to their different sizes and characteristics they can meet all banqueting needs.
Thus, private or corporate events from 50 to 1.200 Guests can be suitably hosted at the new Volkshaus. Our lighting and sound partner, Habegger AG, will ensure comprehensive support for all technical aspects of your event.
