I was looking for a place with nice chocolates and was referred to here by Valentin from the Tourist office. The Café Confiserie Tea Room is located at Marktplatz and offer prime sidewalk seating with views of the square and Rathaus. On nice days, the sidewalk tables are prime real estate and hard to come by. On my visit, I... More

Right opposite the Rathaus, the first floor tea room provides good views. Very nice place for people watching and relaxing in an old, historic sort of place. We had icecream shakes- the one with mango was brilliant. Pista one was so so. High price for milkshake, but what is cheap in this country ?

Walk through the pastry shop and up the stairs to the unassuming tea room and get ready for afternoon delight! The two rooms are dark wood paneled giving the place and old world flair, reinforced by waitresses in Bavarian costume. Friendly and helpful the service is excellent and unobtrusive at the same time. Food good and served quickly. I came... More

Here you find very fine and tasty chocolate self made by Schiesser a chocolatier after more than 100 years. Many different types of it, uniques and all very fine and tasty. You must taste it if you go to Basel.

Not too sweet. Not too bitter. Perfectly done. And great location to sit and watch the world go by. I hear the marzipan and chocolate truffles are equally as spectacular.

Really liked this place, old fashioned, yes expensive, but service was friendly and the place is frequented by Swiss as well as tourists. Good for coffee and a cake not sure I would eat a meal there

Friendly staff and good food with a great location on the square. It is on the 2nd floor, first floor is a chocolate and candy store. Soup was wonderful and pastries very good. Highly recommend!
