The food is pretty authentic, but the lack of adaptation of the kitchen to accommodate for allergies prevented me from coming back. Hope you like it pretty spicy!

Chanthaburi is not fancy but don't judge a book by its cover. We had the 5-course tasting menu which was the perfect example of a Thai meal - a harmonious blend of spicy and sweet/sour that was equally satisfying to the eye and taste buds.

From the outside You wouldn't guess it was a great place to have some drinks and eat! Actually the main entrance is very strange, but once inside (there are a few rooms) it's very very nice. The garden outside is perfect for the summer. The food is authentic and extremely tasty, the price is very affordable (for Switzerland). Really recommend!

Coming from Australia its usual to eat This food. This Thai is one of the best I have ever eaten. Well presented, full of fresh flavours. Good service from staff. Ambience average but clean and pleasant.

We went a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night with friends. All that I can say is that it was OK - the service was slow and we were in a bit of the restaurant that the staff didn't seem to come to very often. The food was nicely presented but not quite there. I like my thai... More

I love food. Chanthaburi serves very good food, if only the price weren't that hefty. I m not a person who like many others that hv the mentality that Asian food has to be cheaper, comparing among restaurants. I made judgements solely on the price value vs. the served food that came to the table. Highly recommended food.

Best Thai in town. That's it! I tasted a lot of thais in basel but this is by far the best you will find. My favorite: minced beef thai style (gehacktes rindfleisch) Also worth a try: the surprize menu. There is also a very nice selection of wines. In summer you can sit in the nice and quiet backyard. You... More

Went there with my wife and we had the 4 course surprise menu. We liked everything and the variations and tastes were really, really nice. The only thing we weren't so keen on was the desert, which was some kind of watery ice cream. The restaurant inside is cute, with lots of red bits and a nice little outside area... More

I had a meal on Thursday evening. Nice informal atmosphere. The part of restaurant that we were sitting was full. We choose squids and king prawns. Both were lovely. Service is polite and professional.

We go there a lot over lunch. And there's a reason for that. The place is great - good food, lovely staff, nice outdoor-seating. Prices are not too cheap but you get a good bite!
