This restauraunt, I Monaci, served us delicious wood fired fresh pizzas, great Italian beer on-tap and great salads. The staff were very friendly, enthusiastic and we could make ourselves understood fairly easily, inspite of knowing just about no Italian. When stuck sign language can always be a good addition and causes some great hilarity.

I monaci pizzeria is a good restaurant in Assisi. Centrally located- near Santa Chiara Church. We had pizza and a big salad, both very good. They pizza-bread was also really yummy. It's an easy place to have you dinner after a long day walking up and down Assisi. A nice meal with no need to go back to the hotel... More

Great pizza and a good price. Very busy so the service is so so but overall a good place to eat so I would recommend.

Had lunch here on a blistering hot day. It was cool (relatively) - they were only offering appetizers and pizza, which was fine with us. The waiters in our section were literally run off their feet and they did't miss a beat. The pizza was excellent - some of the we've had in Italy. The prices are very reasonable. The... More

A nun, carrying 4 takeaway pizzas, coming towards us, pointed us in the direction of I Monaci. We figured with inside information like this we could not go wrong! We had the best pizzas ever (bar one last year in Padua, coincidentally another Franciscan centre! ). The place, with only one table occupied when we arrived, was packed shortly afterwards.... More

Been here for a couple of times, you will eat better than at home! Fresh food, big dishes, good family service,... No fleeting fancy, we enjoy with antipasto, pasta, pizza, garrafe wine, limoncello liquor... And life goes on...

They were kind enough to feed us "late" one evening (about 9:45pm), when we were almost the only people in the place. The service was friendly and competent; the food was decent, but not terribly memorable nor exciting (e.g., pasta with boar ragu was very gravy-like); the wine so-so. The bill was reasonable for what we had. By the tourist-oriented... More

Great value, wonderful arched ceiling, helpful staff. These are the best piazzas we've had in 20 + trips to Italy. This pizzeria has maintained its quality through the years. I'm a vegan, and usually no cheese, no mozzarella, no meat or fish pizzas are bland if not lousy. The one I had here was wonderful. Their vegetable soup was very... More

Great looking and great tomato sauce, mozzarella and components but raw pizza dough. Even though the restaurant seemed to be owned by a Neapolitan family, this pizza didn't represent a proper Neapolitan pizza. I think the problem was just the dough itself not the fact that it was slightly undercook. Didn't digest it easily.
