We ate here twice on our stay in Siena - mainly because I am gluten intolerant and found that many of the restaurants were closed for the off season so found it very hard to find good options for lunch and dinner - however both times were lovely. Our waitress, Martina, was very helpful and more than happy to make... More

We ate there twice (which already tells you something). We were a large party so booked by phone from the UK, and again once we had eaten there. Most of the staff speak very good english. The service was friendly, prompt and knowledgeable. The Maitre D was very helpful, explaining the local nature of the food, the recipe origins and... More

This place is a must in any visit to Siena, third time in this beautiful Tuscan city and my first at Gallo Nero, the food is great, any gnocchi plate is delicious and overall you can feel the freshness of the pasta, we were five and had different plates. They have a wide and fine wine selection and they will... More

Had a very enjoyable dinner in this restaurant. Very nice atmosphere in what appears to originally be old stables. Great wine selection and food was very good. Staff seemed rushed with limited English to help explain the various choices on the menu. Probably would have enjoyed it more with a little more attention to the client....felt rushed to place our... I was here for the second time with a group and the interior is very authentic and very friendly staff. We had set menues and as always in Italy, we are fed more than we can possibly eat but always good food.

Gallo Nero was a highlight of our trip. Every plate was better than the next - we went for dinner and came back for lunch the next day. The entire experience was made unforgettable by our server, Elvira. Her generosity and sincere recommendations made our meals even more special. Ask her for the best wine recommendations, as well as lessons... More

This was the best meal that we had in Italy; we came back a second time and we were only in Siena 3 nights. Our servers name was Martina and we followed her recommendations and had a fantastic meal: gnocchi with duck breast, tagliatello with smoked goose, ensalata mista, duck breast with carmelized red onion in a honey citrus sauce... We had the Gnocci with zucchini and Duck, followed by the Wild Boar stew and the Glazed Duck with fig and rosemary sauce. The food was very tasty, the service good, the only problem was too small a belly...

This is by far the best meal of our trip in Italy! Our server's name was Valeria and she was amazing! Very knowledgeable about the wines, food and paring. I highly recommend this restaurant for the food, service and atmosphere.
