Tar-Tufo was one of my favorite restaurants on my visit to Siena. certainly off the beaten track but well worth the visit. The menu was amazing. They have several tasting menus but I decided to get separate dishes. The man and woman who run the...restaurant showed me the best service of my visit. My wife and I joined four other friends from Siena for dinner. On the cool fall evening, we ate inside; the room was quite inviting being designed in Tuscan style. Each of the staff encountered at Tar-Tufo was friendly but professional. The woman who was...in charge of service for our table made sure everything was perfect. She gave very detailed information about each of the dishes and answered questions in detail if desired. (Is she an owner?) Clearly this woman and the excellent chef care immensely about their clients’ satisfaction with the food and the dining experience: ingredients, preparation, and presentation of dishes were all top-notch. The dishes were often recognizable but quite often with an interesting twist, like including a little sumac flower providing a particular acidic character. One example: as it is a specialty of the Siena region, I often have pici here, typically with a ragu sauce. In the case of Tar-tufo, they modified the pici pasta a bit and also smoked the entire dish before serving; the result was quite good and definitely different. Some of the dishes had multiple components that we had not eaten previously, but they added a fine dimension to the taste. All six of us were very pleased with the food and the experience of dining here.More

I made reservations about a month in advance because I really wanted to eat here based on the research I had done. We're glad we came as it was one of our favorite meals of our vacation. We sat outdoors on a beautiful evening. Nice...views from the tables. We had the pheasant for an appetizer and it was wonderful. Then, I had the scallops where were very good. The mushroom cream and truffles made it excellent. My wife had a pork dish (I forget the name but the receipt says Maialino). She enjoyed it very much. No dessert today. The wine was excellent. Would come back here again.More

Dinned here a few days ago, it was truly a fantastic experience, I don't eat red meat or fish but they catered to my tastes and delivered some wonderfully tasty food presented to perfection and all served by very attentive people passionate about food.

The waiters were very very good. The wine suggestion was spot on. The food.. was not. We had the 7 course tasting with a twist. The carrot and goat cheese was about the only thing I enjoyed. One dish had truffle on it (a good...amount of it) and it still had no flavor. It’s very unfortunate that the flavor of these dishes did not match the beautiful presentation. Also, this was a 4 hour “experience” as they called it, which pretty much means a bite of food and 30 min lag in between. Plus the place was mostly empty so the kitchen wasn’t overwhelmed. I did a fantastic 10 course tasting in south Italy and it only took 3 hours.More

This was simply an excellent experience. I have been to Michelin starred restaurants that were twice the price and not as good. The service was paced, that level of quality cannot be rushed. The staff was knowledgeable and professional. The food was exceptional. I will...not describe the dishes, I have already run out of adjectives. See the pictures, they tell the story.More

This is an exceptional restaurant in a picturesque location in Siena. We had the Chef’s Regional Tasting menu. Food was amazing. Service was among the best I’ve ever experienced. Highly recommend!!

This restaurant provided one of best dinning experiences I have had. This was due not only to the amazing food but also our host Marien. We decided to have the Truffle Tasting Menu and Wine pairing. This was an excellent choice as the wines complemented...every course. The wines were extremely delicious and were from local wineries which produce limited quantities. Each course provide flavours and visual art that was presented on a different canvas (plate) each time. A generous amount of truffle was sliced onto each dish at your table. Marien ensured that each dish was explained in detail and answered any questions we had. She was extremely helpful and replied to emails I sent earlier regarding the booking. I would recommend that you set aside 3 hours to enjoy the degustation menu. Although we sat outside to enjoy the view the interior is extremely beautiful and elegant. If you are in Sienna this restaurant is not to be missed.More

We had the truffle tasting seven course menu with wine pairing - delicious. The setting was fabulous; initially we had a table outside in order to fully enjoy the view, but due to an incredible thunder storm, which just added to the atmosphere, we moved...inside. The team were attentive, provided good information, yet we're not intrusive. If you would like a romantic, delicious meal where you can fully experience & understand truffles, this is for you.More

The restaurant is very well designed, cosy, the staff is competent and attentive. We choose 5-course truffle dinner with pairing wines. Everything was delicious, especially scallops. We don’t like pre dessert and dessert, which was rice with milk, vanilla and ets. We spent very pleasant...evening, but I can’t say the food is extraordinary, it’s just OK.More

What a lovely experience we had yesterday evening, monday 30 may. As a welcome a prosecco from the house and all kinds of healthy bread. The place is like a grotta and beautifull designed. The 'cava' with various wines is overwelming, just as the whole...atmosphere and the complete staff. We have chosen the 75 euro menu; 5 dishes with local and regional products. Every detail fits; well balanced tastes; fresh ingredients and every dish is art how it is prepared and served on the -beautifull- plates! We drank a beautifull, fruity and well bodied Vernaccia di San Gimiano; well priced!. What a friendly and professional staff. We will recommend this beautifull restaurant to everyone; and will definitely return!More
