Today, Friday August 21st 2020 my wife and I had dinner in Papei for the 3rd time this Holiday. The food, wine and service were excellent, every time. I tipped accordingly. Today the bill was 126,50 euro and I wanted to tip 20 euro, but...I only had a 50 euro note. I always pay tips cash and the bill by bank card, Papei is used to this method. At the cash register I asked the wiater 30 euro back, but then the owner interfered. He was furious, how can I pay with 50 euro when the bill is 126,50? He shouted at mewaved his arms around in a fury and he nearly hit me. Two of the waiters who served us, knew from experience what I wanted, so I asked them to explain to the boss. He yelled at me some more, viciously. Then returned 40 euro. I said, no no, 30 euro back please. He went crazy, he nearly blacked out. The waiters were ashamed by the extremely bad behaviour of their boss and explained again. After 5 minutes sheer torture I finally got my 30 euro and paid the bill by bank card. I asked the woner: Are you happy now? I can recommend the food, everything, the wines, the service by the waiters, but be careful with the owner. He might attack you for over tipping!More

I didn't feel safe eating in this restaurant due to the complete disregard for Coronavirus precautions. Several of the staff were not wearing masks, even when in close proximity and speaking over us at the table. The parmesan bowl was passed around three different tables...by the waiters as we watched, with upwards of 10 other people sitting talking over it just during that 20 minute period. On top of all of this our waiter was rude and the food was very average. There must be far better alternatives in Siena, would avoid.More

We went to have lunch here during our day trio to Siena, due to a recommendation of my friends friend. The restaurant is located very close to the city center. They have a good selection of typical local cuisine and the food was very good....There are plenty of tables to sit outside, but we were still lucky to get a table. The service was good and the waiter friendly with a typical Italian charm. He even spoke rather good German. All in all a very satisfying experience.More

We had a great meal! Food and service was outstanding. Then as we were leaving, the waiter yelled at us, because he was not satisfied with the tip. That ruined our New Years Eve. The experience was embarrassing and hurtful. It cast a shadow on...the rest of our day in Siena.More

We visited the place with my friends on a Tuesday evening and we found it quite crowded as being a normal week day but we were given a good table and the service was really fast. The restaurant has got 2 floors and also a...garden to eat outside during warm days. It is my third time in this place and I always found the service polite and helpful and the food is ready in a few minutes. The portions are quite big and the dishes always taste fresh and the flavour is well balanced. That night I choose "pici cacio e pepe" thanks to the waiter's reccomendation and they were delicious, creamy and a little bit spicy. As a dessert I choose "torta della nonna", since I tasted it for the first time I cannot convince myself to try something new, it has got its own typical flavour, really sweet, in part creamy thanks to the lemond curd, and in part crisp because of almonds. As being in 4 people, we were given the possibility to share the bill without any additional problems. The restaurant is also in a good location, just behind Piazza del Campo.More

recommended by our nice guest from Regis Condo accomodation, it was perfect. We had a good dinner, with lovely woman from Sicily taking care of us (PS I'm from Napoli, so I'm not writing it as tourist :) )

The restaurant was recomended by our guide, Christian Scalone, of Viaggi d'Ambra (but this was not known by the restaurant). Not only was the food excellent, and the wine list large and reasonably priced, but the restaurant took a personal interest in our family. As...one of our group was an infant whose parents had run out of diapers, we asked the owner for the nearest store to buy them, and he drove the baby's father to two different stores until he found them. That is service!More

Our meal here was lovely, and the staff very friendly and helpful. It was busy, and obviously very popular with the locals. It was recommended by our b&b host.

Try the Pici caccio e pepe, so tasty. Normally I avoid street side restaurants in a piazza, too touristy. But the hotel recommended it highly. The food, service and ambience made it a special meal.

Recommended by owner of the B&B I was staying at in Siena (was also a close walk). Food was amazing! We had already been in Italy for 10 days and had consumed lots of wine and pasta. We let the waiter recommend the best dishes...and he did not disappoint (or steer us to the most expensive thing on the menu).More
