We arrived on a Monday evening. Not usually a popular day, but I overheard the manager turning away several potential clients, so we were very glad we had booked. The atmosphere was lively, with a large party (all males) at the next table, having fun, but not too extreme. The food was lovely. I was offered tiny mushrooms free in... More

This I saved for the last night of my holiday and it was well worth it. It opened quite late at 1945hrs and I got there just after but by 2000hrs I would say it was fully booked up. The food was delicious and presented in a beautiful way. The staff friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for a better place.... More

Simple menu, excellent food and great service! We had the lunch menu, portions not too big but very tasty. Not the typical tourist trap!

We chanced upon this restaurant on one of the smaller roads and decided to head there for lunch because of all the awards it had stuck on the front door. It did not disappoint! We tried the tripe (beef stomach), which was rather adventurous of us, but it was cooked until tender and was very pleasant. The staff were friendly... More

Me and my friend had been looking forward to a nice Italian dinner on our final night in Pisa. We were seated rather reluctantly by the maître d'hôtel, who was much attentive to the Italian family on the next table over. When we finally got a chance to order, I addressed the waiter in Italian. He seemed befuddled and said... More

We simply had to try this restaurant especially as it was just across the street from where we were staying. We popped in in the morning to reserve a table for 8:30pm that night. I had the rabbit and asparagus starter, which was subtly delicious followed by a main course of bone marrow and beans and a glass of house... More

In Italy for the first time and anticipating good regional food. The signs outside the restaurant seemed promising so arrived for lunch at 12.33, the place filled up quickly so again promising. We didn't want a huge lunch and that seemed to be the problem in terms of the attitude of the waiter and presumably the maitre d'. After trying... More

What an amazing restaurant... we found this using a guide book from 1999 and checked it against more recent Tripadvisor reviews, and it's safe to say this has stood the test of time. The door is papered with Michelin awards and inside you find a cozy, traditional Osteria run by the loveliest people we met in a trip full of... More

Description
The " Osteria dei Cavalieri " (The knight’s tavern) is situated in the historical heart of Pisa, a few steps away from the homonymous square and from the famous Piazza dei Miracoli, in a setting full of alleys where time seems to have stood still. In the Osteria it is still possible to leave the table with a festive feeling, captured not only through a meal but also through the enjoyed experience. A place that unites, in a relaxing and warm atmosphere, the most sincere tuscan dishes and refined, always creatively interpreted gastronomical suggestions.A working meal where you talk and in the meantime taste typical dishes while trying creative and inventive combinations made according to the strongest cooking tradition of Tuscany. A pleasant dinner in which you’ll be captured step by step by flavors and solutions offered by the chef and staff of the Osteria dei Cavalieri. All of this is possible in the historical heart of the city of Pisa, a few steps away from the marvellous Piazza dei Cavalieri, the famous tower and Piazza dei Miracoli. The entrance hall of the restaurant is the base of a tower house of 1200.The tables are framed by a characteristic stone ledge: light is shadowing, becomes misty and intimate, thus favouring conversation. In such an environment it is not difficult to lose oneself in unique wine and gastronomic experience. For sure this will grant the occasional visitor a memory, as is the case with the locals, who return time after time in the certainty of being surprised once again. The dishes and menus of the Osteria are born in a climate of perfect balance between innovation and tradition combined with a remarkable choice from a winecellar rich in discoveries and grand classics.
