About
In the late 1895s, Mr. Guidotti's genius transformed the stables of Villa Bottini in a Drugstore. Since then, there have been plenty of people and illustrious lucchesi, like the Puccini and Luporini masters. Today, more than one hundred years later, the restaurant preserves its original decor intact and transmits the spirit of the time, the scents and the taste of the lucchese tradition. For over 10 years we have also a pizzeria with a wood oven and a kitchen where we prepare typical "Lucchesi" dishes, homemade pasta, t-bone Fiorentina steaks, tastes of local salami and special cheeses.

One appetizer big enough for two people, two glasses of wine, two meals and one kilo of cheese the sold me set me back 75 euros. However they will automatically bring a bottle of wine (which you have to pay) and open it along with bread unless you tell them not to! Now onto the review. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the city of Lucca "The City Of Walls" near Pisa than you must visit this place. Great atmosphere and peaceful. It was a great change from the tourists-catered menu you get from big cities like Rome and Florence. If you don't speak Italian then you can ask for an English menu. We ordered an appetizer for two people that consisted of cheese, three different types of meat with toasted bread. Each bread came with a different type of spread. Water of course is sold separately like any other restaurant in Italy. I ordered the "Tordelli Lucchesi 1895" an old recipe that consists of ravioli type pasta with meat inside. The outside is covered in a red sauce with seasoned ground beef. Very flavorful. The other dish was a roasted duck which was very tender and very delicious. This restaurant was so authentic, I can no longer eat in one of the many restaurants you see in Rome on every alley and street with patios outside. I highly recommended it. Reserved for 12 people, we came with 15 and were still able to eat "a la carte"... Great employees who have their work under control - friendly, attentive and cheerful. Good cuisine - excellent pizza, fresh, generously sized salad, fine antipasti and fresh papardelle and a huge selection of wines. It was a great evening - we'll be back!

I chose this place because it was recommended by the writer Matteo Bussola, and I did well! Last night I was in Lucca with my daughter to accompany her to the Ed Sheeran concert and she wanted to get in as soon as possible to find good seats. I called asking to have dinner at 6.00 pm, and the owner told me that the kitchen opened at 7.00 pm, but that she would ask the chef if it was possible to come earlier. Well, she called me back and let us have dinner at 6.15 pm! Divine dishes! Excellent cheese and cured meat platter, wonderful bruschetta and delicious meat ravioli with Lucca-style ragĂą! In short, in addition to the great availability towards the customer's needs, exquisite food and a lower than average bill. I would like to point out that we did not stay in Lucca due to the absurd increase in accommodation prices in conjunction with the concerts of the Lucca Summer festival. So finding a place where the owners don't profit from tourists is a surprise that still gives hope to mankind. Thank you so much for everything!

The food was fine but please please learn to serve customers with drinks within the first 5-10 mins of arriving. We ordered quickly but it took 45 minutes to get out water / wine & bread and a further 15 minutes (1 hour) for the first course to arrive. This seems to be a general problem in many Lucca restaurants. Otherwise it’s a good place.

We went to this restaurant during a trip to Lucca and I must say that we were not particularly satisfied. Although the restaurant has few tables and the majority of people at the tables next to us had pizza, we waited more than an hour after ordering to receive the first courses. Service too slow and prices a little above average..

We went for lunch on November 5th at 12.10pm, there were 7 of us. We ate 5 pizzas and 2 focaccias, the price was normal (€90 for 7). Intrusive service, we were asked for a drink when we weren't all sitting at the table, then for food practically immediately afterwards and we were offered desserts while other diners were still finishing their pizza. Promoted the pizzas, but the overall experience was not comfortable. Obviously we were in the middle of Lucca Comics so the rush was certainly conditioned by the context or at least we hope so!

We booked during the day and visited as a family of 3, 2 adults and a baby/toddler after stumbling across the restaurant in our exploring of the town. The staff were very kind and attached a booster restrainable seat to a chair for our little one. Complimentary bread was lovely, however would have been nice to have butter or oil to accompany, was good for soaking up sauces post dish though. Beer pour had a lot of head and when settled was below the full line indicator. Pizza was really good and the ravioli was melt in your mouth delicious. Food was good, staff were lovely 🙏Highly recommend for anyone looking for a meal in Lucca.

Ate here on two occasions during our week long holiday. Food was delicious, well presented and very friendly service. An interesting and non touristy place. Pizzas looked delicious but we opted for the main menu. On the second occasion we opted for the fish dish which when cooked was filleted at the table

We are welcomed by an old grocery store turned restaurant with a back room and adjoining room, furnished in a simple but refined way. The menu has local proposals including pizza, all well cooked. The only flaw was the pork fillet which was a little overcooked. The wine list is excellent. Quick and very courteous staff. Average prices

We didn't have a booking but we were welcomed warmly early evening. You enter through the old food shop area into a nice restgaurant.Later it got busy. We very much enjoyed a vegetable antipasto/starter and then had Papardelle Cinghiale and also Tagliatelle pomodoro both pasta dishes very nice but not great - a good bottle of red wine helped and the service was good and friendly. On seeing the pizza at the next table and watching the wood pizza oven in use I would choose that over the pasta next time.

In Lucca comics...dinner on three shifts of 1.5 hours...woe to anyone who exceeds their time...
Poor variety of first courses.... with average prices...
Friendly waiters...not local. Elliptical but characteristic
Truffle tagliolini 16 euros ... ragĂą tagliatelle 12 euros ... 20 euros for the cut ... good even if without accompanying vegetables

Very informal place but I must say you eat really well. I was with the family at dinner chosen by chance and it turned out to be a good choice. We ate a platter of very good cold cuts and cheeses, beans, followed by three equally good first courses and delicious desserts. The restaurant offers the opportunity to take pizzas that we have not eaten but seeing those that were served you have tables a very inviting look. Local that I highly recommend to those in Lucca.

Retro style, it serves as both a tobacconist's bar and a pizza restaurant. Good dishes, we tested an appetizer with cured meats and cheeses to share, with really good, very tasty cured meats, where you can see that there has been research and selection. We then continued with a first course with white ragĂą and the famous tortelli from Lucca. Some small imperfections (too much oil in the first and a couple of minutes of cooking that were missing in the other) but which did not however affect the good quality that was perceived. To finish cantucci and vin santo. Soft, non-crunchy biscuits, which I really liked. Correct bill, courteous service

Good pizza and fast service. Crispy pizza, not very high but with a style all its own. Good and consistent dough. unfortunately it needed to be cooked a little longer and the quality of the cooked ham was not excellent. Very good tiramisu. Online account.
