I am just so happy to have spent a little time researching restaurants in the Lucca area. Villa Bongi is a short taxi ride from the city centre, but a million miles away in terms of tranquility, views and atmosphere. We had a wonderful table on the terrace and were attentively looked after and served by friendly, but knowledgably professional... More

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at this great surprise of a restaurant. The decor is classic and very appropriate for a romantic evening, but what made the evening special was the great food, superb presentation and the wonderful service received from Matteo. The location is a but remote but well worth it! Highly recommended= 9,5/10.

Villa Bongi continues to be my Favorite Restaurant On The Planet! We visited a few days before Christmas and were so delighted that we booked my friend's birthday celebration there on the day after Christmas. Both experiences were utterly memorable. The wonderful ambience, Matteo's attention to every detail (actually both Matteos: the owner and the chef), the incredible food. Octopus... More

Four of us decided on the "diet plate" (NOT) - a six course lunch of the restauranteur's choice. First, the ambience is quiet and gracious - private and romantic or good for a group but not a loud group. The dishes - especially the first three courses, were excellent. We all agreed the soup with edible flower garnish (an amuse... More

They may serve the best food in all of Tuscany, but I wouldn't recommend going on a Monday evening. I can't tell you how amazing their food is, because we actually turned back after stepping into their front door! Or technically speaking, back door. There's absolutely no one to greet you at the restaurant even after we made our reservation,... More

Dinner at Villa Bongi made our beautiful week in Tuscany complete. Thanks to the splendid cuisine & location and the excellent service we were provided by our waiter. He was extremly friendly, helpful and his advise helped us to select the perfect menu - from the first to the last course. Local products are being used in a very creative,... More

If you look for an upscale restaurant with elaborate cuisine, a nice ambiente, excellent service and view then Villa Bongi is well worth to make a detour from Lucca. Both the set menu and the à la carte menu, with a bias on fish is outstanding. This place allows to imagine how Luccese spent their hot summer in their houses... More

Following the excellent rating in TA and recommendation from our guidebook, we booked a table for dinner. The place is very nice, the waiters are charming and helpful, and the wine we had was good and reasonable in cost. That's it for the pros. Now the issues : basically, a restaurant is a place where you want to eat something... More

We would like to point out from the outset that Villa Bongi is not infallible. As much as we would like to be perfect every time. Lately with this never ending heat and just for the benefit of our guest we tried to create a selection of cold dishes:for exeple in our 6 courses tasting menu, 2 of 4 starters... More

We had the most delicious dinner at Villa Bongi. Friendly and very professional staff. The food was delicious. We where a family of 11 (age 9 to 65) and everyone was very satisfied with there food and the service. The view is breathtaking. The trip is a little difficult if you're use to mountains.
